Hawkins will be Back
Saw on the crawler last night during the UT v TAM game that Hawkins will be back next year. His team has talent - with any luck his team will continue to shoot themselves in the foot next year and they wait until then to get rid of him. I guess this answers the question - No they can't afford to get rid of him.

Good for us!! It will be hard for him to recruit for another year.

Kind of frustrating to see a coach who is on the verge of getting fired from a program whose fans could care less about it pulling in better talent (on paper anyway) than us.

Re: Hawkins will be Back
They have no money there at all. They are broke. There football attendance is terrible. There basketball attendence is horrible. There womens basketball team get's nobody to come out. Basically they don't make any money in any sport.
Compare that to our attendence.
Womens basketball get's good crowds
Men's basketball get's good crowds
Mens Wrestling good
Football get's good turnouts
No volleyball is getting good turnouts.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

No volleyball is getting good turnouts. Really? I keep hearing how 42,000 showing up for a November game is an embarrassment... Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. No volleyball is getting good turnouts. That's why we're the sleeping giant. We show up for everything when we're horrible. As the winning gets rolling, we go crazy.

Boulder is an easy place to recruit to. Rocky Mountains and a large metro area that's really close. Past National Championship team.

Colorado denies Buffaloes coach Dan Hawkins told he’ll return next season...
This was posted last night...
The spokesman for the University of Colorado-Boulder chancellor Phil DiStefano denied a Channel 4 report today that embattled football coach Dan Hawkins will return next year. Channel 4, citing two sources inside the football program, said Hawkins came away from a meeting with DiStefano with the understanding that he’s safe, regardless of what happens in Friday’s season finale against Nebraska. Bronson Hilliard, DiStefano’s spokesman, confirmed Hawkins did meet with the chancellor this week, but was given no assurances that he’d return. “It was a review to review the season and have a frank discussion,” Hilliard said. “I don’t want to characterize the outcome as an endorsement of the coach. It’s certainly Mike Bohn’s decision.” Bohn, Colorado’s athletic director, is in Hawaii with the men’s basketball team at the Maui Invitational. Hilliard emphasized Bohn has the say over DiStefano. – Denver Post
University of Colorado Chancellor Phil DiStefano and coach Dan Hawkins met earlier this week to discuss the football program and Hawkins’ future with the school, CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard said today. Hilliard said no decision has been made about whether Hawkins will continue to coach the Buffs beyond this season and when that decision comes, it will be made by athletic director Mike Bohn after consulting with the DiStefano. Denver television station KCNC (Channel 4) reported the chancellor and coach met, but it said that Hawkins came away from the meeting with the understanding that he is safe for another year. “I would not characterize the outcome of that meeting that way,” Hilliard said. “No one should read into that the chancellor will be making this decision. It is the athletic director’s decision to make. The evaluation process is ongoing.” – Daily Camera
