No difference there at all Yeah, I agree with that point. I could easily have seen the Big 10 award go the other direction though. I think had Iowa lost by a wide margin to Ohio State, it would have.
But the fact that it went to OT with a back-up quarterback that didn't have any notable plays under his belt and doing it on the road, I think that pushed it toward KF.

Nebraska: 9-3 (Good win)
Colorado: 3-9 (2-6 in the Big 12)
Teams we beat had a combined record of 29-41 I believe. (20-38 without Nebraska).
35-3 loss to Iowa
24-23 loss to a .500 Kansas State team
41-36 loss to an awful Kansas team that went 1-7 in the Big 12.
35-10 loss to a .500 A&M team
34-8 loss to a 9-3 Oklahoma State team
34-24 loss to an 8-4 Missouri team.
North wins are overvalued because the North was beyond awful. Mack Brown deserved it.
Teams we lost to had a 44-28 record, and those teams had conference records of 28-26. Basically our strength of schedule was pathetic and we benefited greatly. I am just pointing out why some Cyclone fans may be a little upset at Brown winning the COY. Rhoads did a lot of things -- record not withstanding -- to win COY as well. I see both sides, and if I have to catch flack for playing devils advocate, fine. I can take it. The call was made. Brown wins COY. I think that's great. I am not upset. -

IMO people who are acting like Brown getting it is some sort of travesty are being crybabies. An undefeated team at the end of the regular season in the Big 12 has only happened 4 times. Obviously that is extremely difficult to do REGARDLESS of the available resources to a school. Plus, available reasources really mean nothing without good coaching. If it was all about who could spend the most Virginia would be awesome but as it stands they suck and have sucked for a long time.
Had we won another game against a decent team I might agree with the outrage. As it stands it seems a little ridiculous to me.

Iowa State is 6-6 with the 68th rated SOS in the country
Texas is 12-0 with the 47th rated SOS in the country
This is a no brainer

I'm really surprised there's any argument here. Mac has Texas at 12-0 and headed to a BCS game. How can he not be coach of the year for the Big 12?
Coach Rhoads certainly would get some Kudos' for most improved program in the Big 12, but that's about it.

The bigger travesty here is that A-Rob is only an honarable mention and is somehow behind Helu who he ranks ahead of in yards while being hobbled by an injury most of the season.

Re: Mack Brown wins Big XII Coach of the Year; Sims and Smith get all-Big 12 awards
Looking at their page on ESPN, Texas didn't just win games, they obliterated most of the teams they faced. They scored 516 points and only gave up 185. They didn't just win games, they dominated games. Other than the Oklahoma game at the Cotton Bowl, they weren't held under 34 points.

Re: Mack Brown wins Big XII Coach of the Year; Sims and Smith get all-Big 12 awards
So the all conference teams are out now.
Rhoads and Snyder both got Honorable Mention COY nods.
Brandtner, KO, Reggie and ARob were honorable mention all conference.
In my mind, Robinson and LJ were screwed. There were not 4 RBs better than ARob this year. (Thomas, Tolston, Helu and Murray were 1st and 2nd team). And LJ should have been at least an honorable mention CB.

Coach Rhoads has done a good job changing the system this year, and has coached a time that has overachieved in the eyes of many.
This idea of him team "doing what they were expected to do" is completley counterintuitive. So what was he supposed to do? Win more games than were on the schedule? Beat every team by more?
Also, its not like Mack Brown just sits in his chair in his office and watches everything work. He is out there recruting had and coaching hard. I know he has more at his disposal, but running the table is accomplishment making him worthy of being deemed coach of the year. Yah . . Mack Brown really had em up for the AT&M game. I hate the Big Texas XII . .give me back the Big 8.

Re: Mack Brown wins Big XII Coach of the Year; Sims and Smith get all-Big 12 awards
I think if the Clones went 8-4 (those games against KU and K-State), I really think that we would be sitting here and talk about CPR's great year. But since he didn't, I don't have a problem with Brown getting it. And I really, really dislike Texas. But he did maintain his program....and they are undefeated....and spanked a lot of teams this year.
6-6 from 2-10 is very-very good. 8-4 from 2-10...Brand new coach would have been fantastic and would have had to gather COY honors for CPR. Now, if we did finish 8-4 and CPR didn't get it, the whole B12 system would smell fishy, and we would all be crying foul....and rightly so.
But, 6-6 happened.....not enough for COY in my book, especially with a losing record in conference. But I am very proud of CPR....and look forward to him winning this sucker in the near future.
Go Clones!
