Big Ten/Texas in preliminary talks
according to a Big Ten official: Big Ten making overtures to ? Texas / LJWorld.com
This has been discussed before and written off as a complete BS possibility, but looks like there might be some actual fire starting here with this rumor....

Apologies.

I'm "going after" Megan Fox, doesn't mean she'll say yes.

Re: Big Ten going after...
Just so everyone is clear, this isn't just about athletics, this is FAR more about academics. Joining the Big Ten will give Texas membership in the CIC, which equals access to nearly $6 BILLION in research funding. This will be an academic move, not an athletic one, and academically, this move is a home run for Texas.
Here is the CIC homepage, in case anyone is interested: CIC Home Page -

And despite that, they still make Mack Brown the highest paid college football coach.

Chances are that if their Athletic Dept. made 90 million last year that the money for his salary is coming from that pot.

I'd rather they left cause they are just going to end up with a bigger piece of the pie through all of this and leave the ISU's of the world even further down the totem pole.

Here is the CIC homepage, in case anyone is interested: CIC Home Page I'm confused. How does joining the CIC give UT access to an additional $6B in research funding it would otherwise not be able to receive? The CIC doesn't actually give out money for research itself does it? As one of the premier research institutions in the country I don't see how UT wouldn't be on equal footing as any of the CIC member school when it comes to applying for nearly every federal research grant available. I admittedly don't know much about the CIC (and their website is not very helpful explaining exactly what they are/do) so I could be way off base.
