Arkansas to Big 12 if Missouri goes to Big 10?

Last week during a SEC teleconference with the media, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier brought up the fact that he'd been hearing rumors of Arkansas heading to the Big 12 as part of the conference expansion apocalypse.

Apparently, the Ol' Ball Coach and Kirk Bohls have very similar sources.

According to the Austin American-Statesman writer, he's hearing that "the Big 12 would go hard after Arkansas" if Missouri -- and only Missouri -- were to bolt for the Big Ten. Bohls added that Arkansas might be willing to listen to overtures from the Big 12 if the conference came a calling.

Mizzou, of course, has been one of five schools -- along with Nebraska, Rutgers, Syracuse and Pitt -- most attached to the Big Ten as far as expansion is concerned.

I'm guessing, though, that the SEC is not too concerned about losing a program such as the Razorbacks as the conference -- and their multi-billion TV agreement -- would have no problem in filling any type of vacancy.

They would just plug in USF and/or West Virginia. Both bring more to the table than Arkansas.

Arkansas would certainly be a good geographical fit within the b12.

I wouldn't mind Arkansas joining the Big 12. Then once every 4 years I won't have to drive to see the Clones play! Unless they join the north and then it's every other year.

So then who comes to the North division -- Arkansas or Oklahoma State?

I think its interesting that its only Missouri leaving could draw Arkansas. The other thing I wonder Arkansas has more ties to Texas and A&M than any team in the North

Hell, if the sources were true, and the big 12 leadership thinks it has a chance at Arkansas anyways, it should get proactive and start working to bring Arkansas over regardless of what MU does.

I also wonder if they say Missouri in this because they have another school in mind if for to relace Colorado if they should leave like aybe TCU and then move Oklahoma and Okie St. to the north?

I know this has probably posted a trillion times, but the TV contract ends in 2016 for the Big 12? I wonder where the Big 12 will look to put more games on the TV, I just don't see the Big 12 Network happening right now.

This is the kind of news that I needed to hear-even if speculative.
It gives other institutions a ray of hope. Let's say, only ND joins the Big Ten and CU still bolts, Arkansas certainly legitimizes the league even more.

I would still argue that Louisville and BYU are more valuable to pursue than any other Texas school. BYU is actually a national school (poor man's ND) and would be helpful for what viewership that the league does have.

Lets go expand on our own w/ our new Pac Ten/ Big 12 Deal

BYU and Louisville??? Umm no. TCU for Colorado and Arkansas for Missouri if they were to join the Big 10. Colorado could then join the Pac-10 where they fit geographically better than the Big 12.
