The real question if MU jumps ship
Does Hilton South go away? A lot of Big 12 fans in KC area, but the arenas are in Missouri. I'd think there would be a lot of pressure to not do anything to help the economy of Missouri with Big 12 tournaments. -
Re: The real question if MU jumps ship
Losing Mizzou would a big loss for the big 12. They have two huge markets in STL and KC.

I don't think that the Big XII needs an excuse to pull everything to markets further south (read: Dallas, Houston, and OKC)

Losing MU will kiss off most chances for KC to be host to events. FB is already defacto in Dallas permanently. Losing MU will mean MBB will rotate more to OKC and Dallas.
At this stage, losing MU might be the bright side. If we lose NU also, Big 12 might cease to exist. CU will go Pac 10, and the Texas schools will rebuild around a southern conference, while trying to pull Arkansas from SEC.
ISU, KU and KSU to Mountain West (renamed something else).

Re: The real question if MU jumps ship
I think you guys are way overestimating Mizzou in the KC market. KU is the dominant fanbase in the city, and ISU, Nebraska, and KSU are also very well represented. You even see a decent amount of OU and OSU stuff around. Even with Mizzou to the Big 10, I would still consider KC a Big 12 market.
Per Google Maps:
Lawrence, KS to the Sprint Center: 41 minutes
Manhattan, KS to the Sprint Center: 2 hours 2 minutes
Columbia, MO to the Sprint Center: 2 hours 7 minutes
The drive times to ames/des moines and lincoln/omaha are just over 3 hours.
Kansas City /= Mizzou market

Hilton south? Didnt that end years ago?
We barely had anyone at the Big 12s this year (compared to OSU, KSU, KU, Mizzou)
