Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
Classiest have got to be OSU and Nebraska. I was treated great both in Stillwater and Lincoln. I've heard good things about A&M also, but I've never been there.
KU fans were the least classy people by far. I've also been to Mizzou and Colorado, but didn't have many problems in either place, they just weren't overly welcoming either.

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
When we went to KU for the FB game in '05, we parked our bus in front of "The Phog" and some Barney Fife wannabe security guard came over to run us off within an hour of the end of the game. Usually we like to sit around and "decompress" for an hour or two before we pack up and leave, but NOOOOOOOO. So there's that: plus the fact that if you see a fan acting like a D-bag at the KC tournament, odds are that he/she is wearing blue. Hell, most of the obnoxious fans from the Jayhawk fanbase didn't even GO to KU, which makes them the ******** cousins of Hawk fans in my book.
Colorado fans? Don't you have to HAVE some fans in order for your fanbase to make an impression? We went to Boulder back when Seneca was our QB, and their tailgaters all showed up about 30 minutes before kickoff. My buddy who lived out there told us that CU gets "sloppy seconds" from the Denver Broncos fanbase, but only when Colorado is winning. Otherwise, they might as well be playing their games at Carver Hawkeye.
Nebraska fans are a mixed bag. The good ones are really good, and the bad ones are really bad.
Absolutely agree with most of you on OSU and KSU. I had a few bad experiences with KSU football fans during Snyder's tenure, but those were bandwagoners I think. The vast majority of OSU and KSU fans out there are fun to party with. Same goes for the aTm fans I've run into as well.
Mizzou fans? Yeah, they can be idiots, but if you'll notice, most of the idiots you run into from Mizzou are drunk. Of course, most of the NICE MU fans you run into are drunk too. And the ones that didn't make an impression on me? Drunk as well. I've had some fun nights tipping 'em back with MU fans, which were probably helped by our mutal loathing of all things KU.

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
I think I was an Oklahoma State fan in a previous life. I've been down there several times and absolutely love Stillwater. The people are wonderful and charming.
The least classy is Nebraska (I've never been to Tech or Baylor). Don't be fooled by the national media that thinks it's cute to applaud the opposing team when they go to the locker room. If you want to get yelled at for standing up and cheering at a game, go to Lincoln. They have a sense of entitlement that would make Ben Roethlisberger blush.

Im thinking that Stillwater will have to be on the list to hit when they roll around on the schedule again.

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
I am a Hawk Fan. With that in mind there is no doubt in my mind that Cyclone Fans are the classiest fans in the big 12. Why? Because one of you lives next door to me and made sure my house was OK after a big storm while we were on vacation. Another cyclone fan brought us meals when my last child was born. And the countless other things our two wonderful neighbors have done for us over the years. Keep in Mind we are people who Fly a HUGE hawkeye flag on our flag pole and Have a tiger hawk stenciled into our driveway. Our cyclone neighbors ARE HUGE clone fans. GOt the plates, the flag, the yard ornaments and almost every article of clothing they ever wear are cyclone somthing. Every Saturday during football season we wave to them as they head to Ames and we head to Iowa City. Yes we jab each other but they are the best of friends.
The MAIN reason cyclones are the classiest fans are because they are IOWANS and Nobody on the planet is better than IOWANS...regardless of your affiliation.
PS I still despise the clones...but I know ISU far outweighs any other fanbase for the reasons above.

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
My encounters with NU fans have usually been pretty pleasant, so they get the nod from me
My family went to 2 games in Boulder earlier in the decade and vowed never to go back. Incredibly rude.
One question: How do you think other Big 12 fanbases would rank us?

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
Go to Lubbock and experience Tech fans first hand. They are a treat.
Also UNLV fans are horrible. I know not the conference we are discussing.

If you live close to Fuskerville, you know how these idiots come off

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
funny looking at a thread like this.
classy- big12 north schools.
unclassy - big12 south schools.
and it's more or less opposite for ya'll. The absolute worst experiences i've had are with fans from A&M and OSU.

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
So my own rankings don't come so much from an ISU perspective, even though I am a fan, but when I was in Oklahoma City for the NCAA tournament watching UNI I must admit I developed a soft spot for KSU fans, since during the Kansas game most of them were pulling hard for UNI to beat the Jayhawks and quite a few of them congratulated us when it was all said and done. And, as bad of a rap as KU fans get on here, I will say that I didn't have any bad experiences with them down there, and in fact a few of them congratulated me after the game. However, the vast majority of them had stunned expressions on their faces after wards
When I've been in Kansas City for the Big 12 tournament I've gotten along well with both OU and OSU fans. After a night out on the town in KC, I ended up partying with some OU pep band members in the lobby who shared a couple of beers with me and were super cool to hang out with. ISU fans seem to be pretty well-liked by the rest of the Big 12, but OU and OSU fans certainly don't like each other.
Since I live in Colorado, I'm thinking about going to the game in Boulder this fall. Are CU fans really that bad?

We went two years ago and I think their fans used to be real bad but now they are just apathetic. We were out in their lots 6 hours before the game started and their fans didn't show up for a few hours yet. We were there before the people that take money to park were even there. It was one heck of a beautiful day there too.
If I was a recruit and the program was decent I would consider it, the area is very cool, the campus town was kind of like the pedmall in IA City too, lots of bars, shops, pretty cool place.

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
I don't have a ton of experience with going on the road in the Big 12, but I've been to a few plus multiple MBB tourneys. My favorite fans in the conference would probably be OSU and ATM. KSU fans are usually pretty good. Nebraska IMO are hot and cold. Fans in Lincoln are great. The regular, bandwagon fan in Omaha are usually idiots.
My least favorite fans are probably KU. Their wave the wheat is annoying, but the rock chalk chant at Hilton is downright insulting. Their fans are arrogant dicks and I'm sure more than a few have been punched in Hilton. Right behind KU would probably be CU and Mizzou. Not a huge fan of UT and TT either.
As for out of conference, I agree that UNLV fans were TERRIBLE. Iowa fans were worse, but at least the rivalry gives them more of a reason to act that way. I've seen some nasty treatment of fans (myself and others) in IC and even some really bad acting guests last year in Ames. A group of punks basically had to be kicked out of our tailgate last year. I'd be fine with cancelling that game so that I never have to deal with that fanbase in our tailgate lots again.

Re: Classiest and Least Classiest Fans in the Big XII
A&M this past year was my first road trip for a game. They were the most welcoming fans I've ever seen at a sporting event. Just like everyone else here, we were invited to tailgates, bought beers after the game and treated like welcome guests.
I haven't been to a game in Norman yet, but I hate Oklahoma fans. Maybe it's because they're smug, maybe it's their success, or maybe it's because the guy my ex-girlfriend cheated on me and left me for wears OU shirts and hats everyday to class, but I can't stand them.
Next season I'm planning on hitting up games in Stillwater, travelling to Austin for the Cyclones game, and heading to Norman the week prior (if I can stomach being in that stadium). I'll have a better answer to this question after that.

Classiest: Husker fans not located in Eastern Nebraska or Western Iowa.

Still not sold that the rest are real classy though.
