Besides geographical location, what does Missouri offer the Big 10?

Can someone help explain this to me?

Are there really that many Mizzou fans in St. Louis and KC?

Athletically speaking, Mizzou is not all that great. They are pretty bad in basketball these days, and football had a couple good years in the last 40 or so? Their football stadium is a piece of crap IMO.

I don't think their academics are anything special either, correct?

I'm guessing it just comes down to the St. Louis and KC TV markets, huh?

Was it just me or did I see them in the Elite 8 2 freaking years ago?
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

The collective hive mind known as the Big Ten simply wishes to assimilate the likeness of Gary Pinkel as their own.

If Missouri is pretty bad at basketball, what are we considered?

Mizzou made the Elite 8 last year...
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Yeah yeah... meant elite 8. Got it changed, but you were already quoting me.

They are the only major school inside of two major tv markets. they are a good academic institution. They were ranked number one in football recently. They are a good up and coming basketball team.
But mainly, they are the only major school between two major tv markets.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Mizzou isn't all that golden. It shares it's major markets with other college teams as well as pro-teams. But even then, I think, they do alright.

Really? Objectivity is not your strong point, I see.

Gotta love Clone fans trashing Mizzou and in another recent thread Minnesota.

I love ISU as much as anyone but honestly, anyone who feels that these other Universities are not on the same level and in some areas even ahead of ISU are just plain stooopid.

I really don't understand the Big 10's love for Missouri. It might deliver TV sets outside of Columbia, but viewership in KC and StL is mostly pro sports.
