Those sure are a lot of words justifying a lazy position. Look, if Basu still has a job, they're certainly not going to do anything with Keeler. They are who they are.

Re: Keeler Ripped on own blog comments section
The cost of the paper basically pays for the paper for the most part. They don't make much if any profit on sales of the paper. The purpose of newspapers is not to provide news, it is to sell advertising. To do that they must provide news. Online advertising is pretty expensive, and if the register gets 15 million hits on the site in a month, thats a lot of ad dollars because they sell impressions meaning how many times the ad gets viewed.

People who do not agree with what the Register writes want to believe that the paper is failing and that is redic. If you think the Rag is one of the top papers int he country, you need to get out more. It is a horrible excuse for a newspaper. Layoffs due to problems at other papers? What do you do for a living? If you have a division that is doing well, you let it continue to do well. I don't cut one of my departments because another isn't pulling it's weight. This is a ridiculous statement.

That's the point. Me viewing the site and reading an article or two nets them a small fraction of a cent; if they don't make more than that on me buying the paper version, they're doing something wrong

Which of those points is untrue? Even if you consider his presentation of the situation as truthful, which could be debated all day long, there is no excusing the d**che bag delivery. His choice of words once again shows that his coverage is slanted. Plain and simple, he takes every opportunity to take a swipe at ISU. As a matter of fact, you can almost picture the big smile on his face when he was typing. As others have said, they would never put similar words on paper regarding the UofI.
The fact that a "newspaper" would hire somebody with such an inability to put aside his black and gold alliances and do a professional job indicates said paper is worthless. This paper has been going downhill for a longtime and the sports section hasn't been worthwhile in almost twenty years. Hell, even the Omaha World Herald has passed up the Rag. Funny how they can have a sports department that is full of UN people who don't feel the childish need to take swipes at Creighton. Hell, they do a better job of covering ISU than the Rag does. And they cover the hawks as well.

This is a ridiculous statement. I work in advertising in Des Moines. I have worked w/ pretty much every media outlet in Iowa as well as several other areas around the country. Just telling you what people in our business know as fact. Your personal issues w/ the Register seem to be blinding you. The register is regarding by top newspapers (New York Times ect.) as one of the best in the country, not just in it's market. That is a fact. I don't know what else to tell you. The layoffs were a cut from corporate, that means that they lay off company wide a certain percentage. Each paper HAD to make cuts. This info is all public, search for it and read it. The unawareness in this thread is laughable.

Not sure if he will be taking calls, but Bryce Miller will be on KXNO in a few minutes, if you have any questions for him

If you want good reporting of ISU athletics start reading the OWH.
