Big 12 Network

This might be a dumb question, so you can call me out on it, but why is there no Big 12 network? Is it that hard for one of the top conferences in college sports to start one? Is it money, or TV rights or what?

If it could keep the conference together why not start one.

tv sets. plus Texas wouldn't be able to control everything if there was another party running the show.

The Big 12 doesn't have a big market to sell to, unlike the Big 10.

Actually there technically is a Big 12 network (if you can call it that) and has been for a few years.

I'm guessing we'll see a joint network between the Pac 10 and Big 12 before we ever see one for the Big 12 alone which IMO ain't a bad thing.

I for one don't buy that. If the Big 11 can make $12M per school just with their network (I don't know the real number other than $22M that includes their ABC/ESPN package), why couldn't the Big 12 make $8M? I mean, just in the state of TX, what is there, 25 million people? Say 10 million subscribe to a network at $.70 a month. That's $84M a year, or $7M per school. Throw in major markets of Denver, KC, OKC, St.L plus the entire states of Nebraska and Iowa and that's some major cash. Of course, there are costs involved, but I would just guess that $8M per school would be a safe estimate. That right there is more than ISU made in TV revenue last year and it's not counting a major contract with ABC. Other than TX wanting more than their share, I don't see how this wouldn't work.
