Until there is a report of someone courting us we have no reason to make this situation any messier. In the end the Big 12 may stay intact afterall but right now until a team jumps ship the conference is intact and we have no choice but to help keep the ship afloat and show our loyalty to our conference.
I don't want to see the Big 12 split up but I would not be shocked to see teams like Colorado, Mizzou, and Nebraska possibly leave if they find a better situation. But until any of that happens, we have no business adding more fuel to the fire when we aren't directly including in the being courted conversation ourselves.

Re: Where Is JP?
Pollard likely has a very minimal impact on which conference we end up in. It won't be his fault one way or another.
-
Re: Where Is JP?
Pollard is doing the right thing b/c he has no power right now.
Can someone tell me what effect this would have on our research grants etc.. (if we were to go to an "upgraded" MWC.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: Where Is JP?
I heard he was seen at Kelly's in KC

Re: Where Is JP?
Pollard always works behind the scenes. It is usually easier to get things done away from the media attention. With all of his coaching hires, we never heard anything that was legitimate until the final decision was made.
It is foolish to think that silence means no action is being taken behind the scenes, especially with Pollard. Now if BVD was still at the helm...that is a different story.

Re: Where Is JP?
to echo what other people have said, he doesn't really have a leg to stand on so it is pointless for him to get into this ******* match between schools. He is more in a reactive position right now.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Where Is JP?
All this lust for Jamie Pollard is amusing.
The reason none of the media is talking to Pollard: we aren't a player.
Why do you think Pollard's only commment on the subject has been, "College athletics will survive."? Because that's all he can gurantee.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -
Re: Where Is JP?
The odds are definitely against us; however, too many dollars are at stake. We have to at least try and pitch ourselves to the Big Ten and PAC 10 OR be out lobbying other Big XII teams to stay put. We need a solid position and go all-in. Again -- too many dollars are at stake not to at least try. Let's please all hope that JP is doing something. That's all I ask out of JP and President Geoffroy -- just give your best effort.

Rest assured that Geoffrey and Pollard are working a lot behind the scenes based on different possible scenarios to make sure that we land on our feet somewhere. When you are one of the schools looking straight in the face of being left for dead then you better have some contingency plans in place or all is lost. I think the guys we have in charge are smart enough to know that. They aren't just going to sit around and wait for the bad news.

Just had lunch with three ISU faculty friends - two department heads in the college of ag and another prof in aerospace engineering; they are very concerned about the future.

Also, I heard Northwestern in Orange City and Dordt have a fighting chance due to good regional rivalries.
