Does Texas join the Big 10 or the Pac 10...
If offered by both? I would say them joing the Big 10 helps us tremendously, this would leave OU, OSU outside and would create a new Big 12. When all this is said and done, I think there are 5 major conferences, Big 10, Big 12/MWC, Pac 10, ACC, SEC with Texas joining the Big 10 along with A&M and Mizzou.

Don't forget the SEC as well.

Wouldn't it be hysterical if after all this, ND joining the Big 10 is all that happens?

Re: Does Texas join the Big 10 or the Pac 10...
Big 10 has to drop one team if six are going to PAC10 and six to Big 10.
OR
Big 10 adds Notre Dame and then adds 6 left from B12. So then ISU becomes part of the Big 8 division of the New Big 10 conference, and the rest become the Big 10 Division of the New Big 10 Conference.

I don't like the idea of 14 or 16 teams in the Big 10. Nebraska joining would be cool. Mizzou joining is kind of blah. If we just added Notre Dame and stuck at 12, that would be ideal. How likely that is, another story.

Re: Does Texas join the Big 10 or the Pac 10...
The Big 12 should give Nebraska and Missouri a deadline to decide if they want to continue being members, It would be nice to see the Big 12 call some of the shots. Tell NU and MU that if they don't want to be here, fine, we can also expand our conference. Then it's too funny when the Big 10 doesn't want them either.

There are only a few things I am certain of in this world: you are born, you will die, you have to pay taxes, and Texas WILL NOT end up in the SEC.
That would be a HORRIFIC move for Texas.

This post made me laugh...no offence intended.....But before the big xii could tell nu or mu to squat or get off the pot...
The big xii would have to have a PAIR OF BALLS...WHICH OF COURSE THEY DONT HAVE!!!!!
The way I look at it there is 8 teams that have options of better deals elsewhere and their are 4 teams with virtually NO Options and are gonna be left holding the bag!!!!! -
Re: Does Texas join the Big 10 or the Pac 10...
I actually think Texas will stay put in the Big XII. They hold all the cards and are the ones that have it all their way.
I do think that an alliance will be formed with the Big XII and Pac 10. And possibly their own network if nothing else. This would give cable companies another option than the Big 10. And actually about as appealing.
As far as Big 10 expansion, who knows? Nebraska and Mizzou might bolt for the Big 10 but if you had a Big XII and Pac 10 alliance that results in a network and a huge TV deal then you might be looking at some decent money as well. I think that the Big 10 takes Rutgers over Mizzou in a heartbeat. Illinois already gives the Big 10 the entire St. Louis market anyway. And Kansas City is much more of a Kansas fan area rather than Mizzou. Nebraska adds some tradition in football but zero TV sets.
I just don't see the Big 10 adding 3 more teams to the mix, when they are already getting usually 2 teams in the BCS now. So adding 3 teams and no additional BCS bids just dilutes the money being divided up. The Big 10 has a good deal now. Why would they really want to divide up the pool of money amongst more members? And if they put conditions and won't split that pool of money then their is really a lot less incentive for Nebraska and Mizzou to move. They would actually be better off staying.
ISU has no chips at this poker table. We will be best served by a stable Big XII.

Where's the option for "they will stay in the Big 12?"

Re: Does Texas join the Big 10 or the Pac 10...
After watching College Football Live... Texas will be in either the Pac 10 or Big 12... that's it.
They had Chip Brown on from Orangebloods.com, and he said Texas is not interested in the Big 10 or SEC at all. He said that their preference right now is to stay in the Big 12. He also mentioned how Texas really doesn't want to lose some of their rivalries either.
The more I hear, the more I think Nebraska and Mizzou go to the Big 10, and then the Pac 10 becomes the Pac 20 with two divisions.... the west division being the current Pac 10 and the east division being the 10 remaining Big 12 teams. Just call it the America West Conference or something? All teams would be west of the Mississippi.
According to ESPN, they would have 6 of the top 9 college football markets in the country.

Re: Does Texas join the Big 10 or the Pac 10...
I know everyone says that we owe texas for letting them in the big 12, but if they do not leave the conference, we should be thankful to them, because without the big12 we could be without a bcs conference

But I'm not sure how stable the Big XII is anymore. Asteroids are nature's way of asking "How's that space program going?"
