Could it be possible for the original Big 8 conference teams to mutiny against the Texas schools (Those schools are on the brink of destroying 2 BCS-Level Conferences)......Set up a TV network and put the offices in Kansas City? I'm sure Father Tom of the Prairie would like it and Missouri would feel like it'd be a major player again, along with the rest of the schools......

Where's the money in a renewed Big 8 Conference?

Sounds fun to be defiant to the Texas schools. I'm fine with that, but reality says this takes money, and that conference doesn't have a lot.

We and maybe the Kansas schools are the only ones who have something to gain though. Maybe Nebraska.

right on. big conferences are volatile. it is just a matter of time with 16 team conferences until there is a break-up ESPECIALLY if Texas is in the mix. They are the opposite of the midas touch. Conference realignment is really just a chance for the big dogs to ditch the rif raf. Iowa may laugh now, but could easily find itself on the outside with the next big shift. Only one team can be conference champs and since all these teams that are used to being conference champs want to hang out in the same conference they are going to have to get used to long droughts. Teams like Texas don't get used to long droughts they just pick up there ball and find a new place to win.

This idea is fun to think about, but it swims against every tide that is currently flowing in college sports, and therefore won't happen. The new Big 8 would be closer to the Mountain West than it would be to the new Big 10 or new Pac 10.
