OWH article on Big12 speculation
Conferences: Four Big 12 schools may be left out in cold - Omaha.com
From the pic at the top of the article, it doesn't take a genuis to figure out who they most think will be "left out in the cold".

Re: OWH article on Big12 speculation
I just don't understand how everyone is assuming that Nebby and Mizzou are bound for the Big Ten for sure? I just don't get it. No offer has been made.

Then why didn't they stand up and say something at the Big 12 conferences? Supposedly this whole conflict is about those two bolting to the Big 10. If they would just tell Beebe, "We're not leaving", then there would be no conflict and the Big 12 wouldn't be on the brink of collapsing. Don't kid yourself, NU and MU have some sort of place held in the expanding Big 10...

Re: OWH article on Big12 speculation
It would be in both Nebraska's and Mizzou's best interest to leave the Big 12 to join the Big 10? They would gain more television exposure and more revenue by changing Conferences and from that standpoint it should be a no-brainer.

And I'm pretty sure then that if ISU had been invited to the Big Ten. but told to say nothing, Pollard and Geoffroy would be playing dumb too...

A deal with the current Big 12 configuration or a deal with a mixture of the current Pac-10 plus the six newly offered Big 12 traitors? It seems to me that the current college conference situation may be trending to these so called Super Conferences. The current Big 12 under Beebe will never fall into this category. Any network looking to sponsor a conference will gravitate towards something new and innovative over the same old same old...

Mizzou has been defiant for the last few months and nothing is holding Nebby back either. Those two universities are playing hardball like this because they can. ISU is not in that position. If you don't believe so, then why didn't NU or MU release a letter to alumni like we did? It's fairly obvious. They have an out, we don't...

Re: OWH article on Big12 speculation
I can see the stories in the OWH if Nu bolts and then is only the 4th or 5th best football team in the conference and they will be saying why did we leave the Big 12!! The BB teams will be at the bottom of the league with Missouri, their only bright spot will be volleyball and maybe baseball.

Except last year when has Nebby had an argument about them being 4th or 5th in the league? 2001?

Re: OWH article on Big12 speculation
They could hitch up to a smaller, less-prestige conference such as Conference-USA or Mountain West. That might work for Iowa State — the Cyclones might be more competitive with programs such as Memphis and Houston, Air Force and TCU — but the other three aren't likely to be too excited about the step down.
Gee, thanks for that. It's not like we were competitive with, you know, Nebraska.
