“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -

So, who is the third? A 13-team conference seems a little odd...

I'm sure they're holding out hope for Notre Dame but their backup seems to be Pitt / Rutgers / Syracuse / etc.

What? No Save the Date first? Does the B11 know nothing of etiquette?

Re: Big 10 invites out?
Wouldnt it be some ***** if NU and TU were playing us all and it was all a shadow game to cover for NU, TU, ND to join. I could totally see some sort of blindsided curve ball coming down the pipe.

It certainly isnt because the Big10 is not interested in them. Maybe MU and NU are the Big10's backup plan. If they can't get ND then they will consider them. The MSU president's comments about academics seemed targeted squarely at those two schools. Because of that, I think there is still quite a bit of debate over whether to invite them or not. I doubt the Big10 will settle that debate until ND gives their final answer.

So at the end of the Big 12 meetings last week, after all the talking was done, and NU knew where everything stood, and the roll call was taken of who was "in" and who was "out", why didn't NU declare "out"? Why take the extra week to decide?
