Fox sports tv contract
Dependent on expansion of course, but if it happens would be huge. Fox Sports Wants to Marry the Big 12
Fox has engaged the Big 12 AD’s with a plan for massive expansion on the current Big 12 television contract
Fox has proposed a nationally televised ‘Big 12 Game of the Week’
The Big 12 would have to stay intact for the contract to be valid, with Nebraska a must-have (no word on Mizzou)
The deal would probably include some sort of alliance with the Pac-10 for ‘made for TV’ match-ups (think USC-OU every few years, Texas-Oregon, etc.)
This would effectively narrow the revenue gap between the Big 12 and the Big 10/SEC, making a Big 12 member team’s move to another conference not as attractive

Re: Fox sports tv contract
Ok, now I'm starting to wonder if the Whorns will pass this up? Sounds like they could have this and the Bevo Network.
For "I", for "S", forever!
For Iowa State all the way.
Let's go! To show them what the gang's all here for,
Go! To show them how the Cyclones cheer.
For "I", for "S", forever!
For Iowa State do it right!
It's time to climb up on the vict'ry wagon,
Fight! Iowa State, Fight! Fight! -
Re: Fox sports tv contract
Fox has proposed extending the current TV contract for up to 20-30 years, possibly through 2050 When Prepared, Fear No One. -
Re: Fox sports tv contract
Doesn't Fox Sports already have a "Big 12 Game of the Week" that is televised nationally?
I don't see the difference here.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

I don't see the difference here. Is it currently national?
Some years I have been able to watch more games in Pennsylvania than those in Iowa.

Re: Fox sports tv contract
I think it's been regional only

That would be awesome the Big 12 had a deal with Fox (the actual channel) like the SEC has with CBS.
“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -
Re: Fox sports tv contract
Idk about that 20-30 years. While that may have some lasting effects on the conference, it also takes away from larger revenues later. Are there possibilities to renegotiate 10 to 15 years down the road? That could be a negative about this report.

Re: Fox sports tv contract
Yeah, 15 years would be better more than likelynto renogotiate.

Re: Fox sports tv contract
I'm pretty sure that the Saturday games are broadcast nationally on Fox Sports now.

Re: Fox sports tv contract
If this came before the big 12 meeting last week.. suddenly the obsession with keeping nebraska makes more sense.
The talk of those 6 to the pac 10 occurs then because if this deal can't get done under the big 12 if NU leaves, its probably reasonable to assume Fox would be willing to look at something more like the big 10 network for that grouping.

Then the games that don't make it on Fox national go to Fox Sports regional.
