Will never happen, because the senators from the states of the schools who really have the power in the Big Ten are not going to jeopardize the tax exemption of those schools over the issue of getting ISU into the Big Ten...

This issue is a good opportunity for a Politician to get a lot of publicity. You can't overlook that. Also, if ISU is in the Geographic footprint of the Big Ten and is on paper arguably a better candidate than another university accepted to the conference then you have an argument that the Conference is not thinking like a non-profit. Legitimately. Who knows how much influence this actually has though.
