Views from the other leftovers?
I know that over the past few days there has been a lot of local coverage of the events from the point of view of the teams that are "leaving". I would like to kind of hear something from the ones like us that are screwed. On KXNO today they had a guy from Kansas on and he really ****** me off. All he could talk about was how much better KU was than Iowa State. Some of it may be true, but that was all he talked about and he seemed super stuck up about the whole thing. I could see that Chris was not to impressed with him and Matt today and feel the depression in his voice. I know that Matt is entitled to his opinions that Iowa State is going to suffer and I am not saying that his reasons are not valid, however, a large part of his audience is hurting right now, maybe a little positive thought would go a long way. It would be interesting to hear from the schools like Kansas State and Baylor to see what they are thinking and how they feel about where they may end up.

Re: Views from the other leftovers?
As a KU fan I can tell you the whole thing sucks. TV has raised college sports to a new level and then took it over the top where it will crash and burn. Conferences need to be divided geographically. That's the only way that makes since. This thing is just going to turn into one huge mess. Underdogs are part of what makes sports great. It sucked losing to UNI, but that is what actually makes sports so much fun to watch. If this becomes a 64 team deal and everybody else is out it will ruin college sports.

Re: Views from the other leftovers?
KU might be in the best position of the 5 B12 North teams hanging out to dry, but it isn't by much. In a football world their good BB program only buys them a little edge.

I'm still scared to death that KU (and in turn KSU) are holding a card that is yet to be played.

Same here...I've been saying that the 4-5 teams left behind simply collect the exit cash...yet I haven't heard much from the schools in question about the buyouts and such...hence I wonder if they have that 9th school ready to bolt...

The Little Five Conference needs a heart transplant. Basically Nebby sent four of the old Biog Eight members off the cliff for money whether sports or research. It was just money. To hear them say it is a 50-75 year fix, what a crock.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: Views from the other leftovers?
I can't figure out why Texas thinks losing Nebraska completely ruins the conference?! Seriously, it's a loss but not something to dissolve the conference over.

Re: Views from the other leftovers?
This thing was too easy to not already be orchestrated. Texas knew exactly what it was doing. Would love to see A&M throw a wrench into it and head to the SEC. They would become my second favorite team, and probably my favorite Super Conference team.

This Wildcat says that it is time to end the pity party. Quit crying in perfectly good beer. Band together with the other orphans that no one wants. Make the Mountain West into a BCS conference. Take names and KICK ***!

Listening to talk radio here in KC the last couple days I have the opinion that if seven teams (maybe only 6) leave the Big-XII, the Big-XII ceases to exist. No TV contracts, no exit windfall, no nothing.
I also have the opinion that at least some of the anger KU fans harbor eminates from: 1) beginning to realize that football is driving this boat and the b-ball legacy isn't creating as much enthusiasim for thier team as they expected to see and 2) to the extent it's real, the ties to KSU are "holding them back" and they're pretty bitter about it. A lady claiming to be a school teacher called in to 610 am Monday afternoon/evening and was livid that KU was being "held back" by the red-headed step-child KSU Wildcats.
I had a long conversation with a colleague around 2:30 this afternoon who was certain the MU Tigers were Big-10/11 bound. This stuff is overloading the emotions of an awful lot of people in the greater KC area.
