    Re: Coach Mac

I could have used him winning a couple of B12 North Titles - but didn't happen. So he's on my blame list (this list is getting bigger by the day)

you know how far 2 conference football titles would have gotten us in this realignment...as far as we are without them. Not that I wouldn't have wanted them but it doesn't change the fact we don't bring enough $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Yeah, he chose to bring isu up to respectability and blow those games, the big jerk.

Don't blame Dan that is blasphemy

Probably true, given how recent those were.
However I would say a turnaround like Snyder at KSU or Beamer at Va Tech would help a lot. Va Tech may be riding their football program, which 20 years ago had a smaller stadium than ISU and was in the A-10, to the penthouse that is the SEC.

Yes the Va Tech is in a more populated area, but their TV sets are already largely covered by UTenn in the SEC and UVa/Maryland/UNC in the ACC.

we are a victim of geography and historical events much more than we are of wins and losses. We happen to be in the middle of a cornfield in an unpopulated state that has two big schools instead of one and the other happened to join up with the right league many years ago. no winning in the world would have changed those facts.

Assuming a Snyder or Beamer type turnaround you do not need to...you've already over come it.

Now we're blaming Dan McCarney for the demise of the Big 12? Things really have gotten out of hand.

No, its not their wins alone that help. Snyders wins aren't going to get KSU any further than us because they too are in the middle of a field in an unpopulated state with two big schools. VTech the wins helped but it is the population out there that is truly driving them with those wins.

How's that K-State turnaround working out for them now?

Colorado got crushed in those two Big 12 title games and has never recovered. Would have been nice for ISU to win in the clutch for the first time.....ever.....but it would have been crushed in the title games, too. What were they, 66-3 and 70-3? Something like that. The North was horrid those years. Let's call a duck a duck. Would not have vaulted ISU to anything, altho it seemed like it might at the time.

Buddy, have you ever been to Blacksburg? It is a small town in the middle of nowhere in far southwestern Virginia.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
