The five remaining schools are likely to have millions coming their way in payments from the traitors. Assuming the a****id stays with the big 12 as the following article hints, and it would take 9 votes to dissolve, we have the power to make a decent home for ourselves.
As it looks like we'd have the a****id we will be bringing teams in to our now Big 4/5+??? As long as we have 4 we're good on the bid most likely.

We need to focus on TV markets and name teams.
We start off with
BU- 41,000 alums in DFW, 25,000 in both Houston and Centex
KU- Delivers KC
KSU- Helps get more play in KC
ISU- Gets play in Iowa
Mizzou- Gets play in St. Louis if they are still around. Also KC
Our best targets are MWC schools who we lure with an a****id and million dollar payments. Also TV with BYU, Utah, and TCU is better with the B12 than CSU, SDSU, UNLV. Also some Big East schools like Louisville will probably be left out if B10, ACC, and SEC follow up.
Targets:
#1 BYU
Better than any of the 5 in attendance, directors cup, and travels VERY well. Lots of mormons in DFW and KC. Football and BBall are great pickups and awesome facilities. Also they'd jump instantly as Pac10 hates them like they hate us. 65k sellouts in football, 20k basketball. C'mon over mormons!
#2 TCU
Name team, give recruiting to the north as those teams could alternate coming to play them one year and us the next.
They have 25,000 alums in DFW and 7,000 students. Adding with us gives about 70k interested alums in DFW and helps with TV here. Add centex to that and you've got roughly 100k interested parties. Baseball is strong and they would be good in a number of sports.
#3 Utah- After TCU as travel expenses limit their appeal after BYU and they may go Pac10 if A&M bolts to SEC. Less appealing than BYU in attendance and all sports but still an outstanding pickup. If we get both it helps our appeal for TV as the Holy War would be marketable.
This puts us at 8. I think we stop at 8-9 as it allows for cutting the pie in fewer slices. The 8/9th spot/s if mizzou or ku is around would likely go to whoever provides value out of:
Louisville- Good basketball, new market that would care, recent BCS team in Football. Football expanded stadium to 60k and brings a market that they have at least 50% local pull against UK. Big East will likely lose 2 from the Big Ten's moves alone. Once the SEC raids the ACC they'd get hit again. Their long term security and potential to play KU in bball would bring em over. If Missouri or KU is gone we likely jump on them quick.
SMU- Don't laugh! If we & TCU can't deliver DFW, another 40,000 interested alumni might do the trick. SMU pre-death penalty drew better crowds than the Houston schools and would limit our travel and help deliver the market of DFW. Football may have turned a corner and they have an ok bball arena. Depends on DFW tv.
U of Houston- Large enrollment and good football. Located in a market where only we have a small presence (25k) but they really don't lock up that market even paired with Rice. They don't graduate players or have very good facilities. Fallback option.
Memphis- This is a bball move all the way. They are UH with a new market likely to care more about them. Better facilities though. Fallback option.
Cincinatti- Recent BCS football and good basketball. Likely to be left out of ACC raid. Afterthought after Buckeyes but would add a market and a team with recent success. Distance is a drawback.
Rice- Great academics, baseball, and history with us. But having fewer total alums than we have in DFW alone probably nixes them. They only have 11,000 in Houston and likely wouldn't help with tv negotiations. I like them but they probably stay where they are.
UTEP- Good attendance but not really a ratings draw. Ok last resort.
New Mexico- Better draw than UTEP due to market. Football recently tanked but great pull as a basketball school. May help get Utah schools.
CSU, Air Force, Wyoming- Some good programs but distance and markets are limiting. Likely left behind.
Who would you all try for?
