I think this is probably in the "no duh" category. Who wouldn't want 'em? And they can covet them all they want, doesn't mean it's gonna happen.

I agree. Too many good schools to be the top dog there. If the SEC was all Texas had to choose from, they would work like madmen to save the Big 12.

Hah, since there was so much talk of how texas officials wanted to keep the two together, maybe itd go the other way. A&M and OU should go to the SEC, let texas do what it wants then.

The ending of that article is the scenario we should all be praying for. Otherwise, there are dark days ahead:

Oklahoma was still mulling several options Saturday and discussions within the Sooners program were ongoing, a source told ESPN. One plan still on the table was to keep the 10 remaining Big 12 schools together and reposition the conference for the future.
A source familiar with the Sooners said there was compelling information the Big 12 would still be very strong. The Big 12 could remain at 10 or add teams, which the source said would be a choice to be made later and carefully reviewed.

SEC is where the big money is long term. They and the Big 10 have the most high value programs. Adding A&M and OU to that pushes them firmly above the Big 10. I just don't think they can expand it with those teams with the long-term TV contracts they have. The big boys there aren't going to want to share. No way UT wants that conference, that's for sure. Too tough to win a national championship playing those teams every week.

I dont know about this. I think we could be better off in a big east than in that scenario. Big east is a much more balanced football conference, and football money drives the program. I certainly dont want to be in a situation where we're playing OU and UT EVERY year. And according to the guy with the sources behind the big east talk, apparently the big east would make a good chunk of money as well..

The SEC only moves if they can get 2 of these 3 schools, IMO. Adding ACC schools just waters down their already insanely lucrative deal, and this article basically confirms that.

Will either conference give Texas what it wants? The saving grace to the Big 12 may be the Texas need for control over everything. I have a feeling that negotiations will not be easy with either.

The only way I personally would like to see the Big 12 stay together is if they don't add more teams and have no conference championship game. I know that probably isn't popular, but I don't like the whole thing in the first place.

What if after all of this, everyone came out Tuesday and said, "Uh, **** it, we're just going to stay. When the time is appropriate we will expand. For now though, we are just going to play with Ten and still make the Big Ten look bad.........****ers."

You know, I am a fan of just playing everyone in the conference and letting the chips fall that way. Of course, that would make it much harder to win the B1 championship but every other year we would get UT and OK at home.

maybe. My biggest problem would be a Big 12 Network (or obvious lack thereof) and the insistence of Texas having their own network. That in itself has me ready to sever ties with the longhorns.
