Mississippi What would BXII offer any of these except TCU that would be better than they have?

For the love of Bill Fennelly, lets keep the Big 12 together. He dominates them.

From Coach Fen:
"I keep reading all these comments from people saying they want the 10 schools in Big 12 to stay together-maybe THIS time it is the TRUTH!!"

To me the power struggle means little, we will always be the little guy. I would rather stay in the Big 12 than go out east to be pushed around. And The Big East isn't the most stable either if the ACC and SEC want to expand.

Re: aTm AD Byrne wants to keep 10 teams together...
I think this is the best possible situation for ISU. Joining the Big East, as is, would be better, but the Big East football schools are going to get raided. Be it by the Big 10, or the ACC after the SEC handpicks what it wants out of the ACC. There will not be enough football playing Big East teams left, if any at all. The SEC has said they will match a 16 team league if that becomes the trend and the ACC would be stupid not to match as well. I could also see Kansas and/or Mizzou landing in one of those 4 power conferences with all the moving pieces.
I think that may be why Pollard/Geoffroy may be wary of the Big East as they are thinking two steps ahead.

Re: aTm AD Byrne wants to keep 10 teams together...
I think if we stay together we need to get to 12 - 16 teams and change our divisions around. Not sure who those new teams would be, but if we don't get some then we will get phased out evenutally by this super conference crap.
My thought was to be creative with the football money. IF they can't fix the fact that teams are not on tv enough then I don't want any part of it.
I will take a note out of Deace's book and say they should put a good price tag on the division name.
So instead of Espn saying Texas wins the South.
They say Texas wins the "Texas Insturments" Division
And ISU won the "H&R block" division.
Its really selling out, but I bet you could get each school some serious coin for that.
and that is what this is all about right? Does anyone want to even play football anymore or should everyone concentrate on just making money.

Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

Unless they have some sweet *** TV deal, a couple of solid programs (BYU and Lville, I'm looking your way), and Texas realizes that their greed caused this whole damn situation, I say "good day".

I agree. Add BYU and L'ville (Utah & Kentucky mkts. and back to 12 teams). Now here is were I go off the deep end a little. Bring in the Natti (ohio market) give a call to Pitt (penn. mkt). You're probably still with me here, now is where I go a little haywire. Let's check out N-ILL and central mich. takes us to 16. Now we have a more TV's than the Big 10 covers and precedent already set in those markets for ramming a channel down peoples throats. Hey, I got the big 10 network shoved down my throat let someone else gag on the big12 network.

Re: aTm AD Byrne wants to keep 10 teams together...
I really don't think the Big East is going to get raided that hard.
The SEC doesn't really want to expand if it can't get a real big fish, and that will leave other conferences with little reason to expand.
If the Big East gets 4 from the Big 12, and a TV Network, it will be more stable than the ACC, and not desirable enough for the SEC who is only going to add either a GIANT TV market, or total powerhouse.

I agree... except.. why does the SEC need a big TV market? Their tv contract is national... ESPN and CBS.

Assuming the Big East is willing and stable. The onger this stuff goes on the more likely it beomes that we will stay together. I would say that it is becoming evident that Texas has not been please with what they can get to go somewhere else. If they were, they would be gone. If I am MU or KU I want to dissolve and GTFO. However, I am from ISU. If you give us two years I fully believe we will be in a better spot than we are now. I think we could be similar to an Ok St. as far as success or at least people will see the potential. I just cannot say that the Big East would certainly be a better option for us. What i a TV deal doesn't come an what if a few teams leave and the ACC decide to expand. I just think if everyone hangs in here and if we get a couple other programs, we aren't that much worse off. Sure, Texas will rule the place but anywhere we go will peg us as a small fish. Besides that if we stay, that doesn't mean we can't be open to switching if we feel we are better off.
