You're probably still with me here, now is where I go a little haywire. Let's check out N-ILL and central mich. takes us to 16. Now we have a more TV's than the Big 10 covers and precedent already set in those markets for ramming a channel down peoples throats. Hey, I got the big 10 network shoved down my throat let someone else gag on the big12 network.[/QUOTE]
Don't kid yourself. BYU is a national market. It reaches out past Utah. I don't know the numbers on it but I would assume it will draw people from all over.

If the Big East gets 4 from the Big 12, and a TV Network, it will be more stable than the ACC, and not desirable enough for the SEC who is only going to add either a GIANT TV market, or total powerhouse. Maybe, Maybe not I would rather take my chances on keeping the Big 12 together at this point. Hell who knows. I just dont like the Idea of going to the Big East than 3-4 years later doing this scenario again, at that point we wouldn't have many more options.

No one is coming to the B12, too unstable and one school rules the roost. Any university would be crazy to join this league.

Something is way wrong with that picture, especially considering the Big 12 schools out in the podunk Midwest are getting between $8 and $12 million/year. And I think one of those "way wrongs" is the instability of that conference. I think another "way wrong" is that there just isn't a ton of interest, at least in the present geographic footprint, to watch these teams on TV.
The Big 12, if it survives, might launch a TV network too, perhaps in alliance with the Pac-10, and judging by current TV deals, the money that the Big12/Pac-10 network will make >> than the money made by the Big East network.
I have no problem with the Big East as a home for ISU if the BIg 12 disbands, and I understand the frustration with UT's power, but given travel expenses (which are a big deal to ISU because of the tight athletic budget), wrestling, presently paid TV money, and existing recruiting ties, staying in the Big 12 (if it survives) as opposed to going to the Big East seems like a no-brainer...

BYU in my mind is a better get than UTAH. it still gives you salt lake, but gives you a national following (Notre Dame Lite)
Their facilites are by far the best in the MWC.
I would think our choices for any teams would be in no order
BYU
Utah
Boise State
Memphis
Houston
TCU
Lville
Cincy
South Florida (i like their setup:)
If you add 2,4,6 teams out of that list we would have a legit strong conference worth a lot of money. And you wouln't have to play 2 light years away in washington at 10pm Eastern.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

Do we have the ability to renegotiate our Big12 Tv contract if 2 teams leave and we add 4 more. Not sure how that works and I am curious

Re: aTm AD Byrne wants to keep 10 teams together...
I think the Big 12 sticking together would be our best option if some things changed.
I really think a "new" Big East would be able to renegotiate a MUCH better TV contract than what they currently have. The Big 12 staying together would be just as unstable, unless there were some moves made towards stability.

Add two of these four teams; BYU, TCU, Utah, or Boise State and i will be happy

I don't think they can. I could see us being at 8 or 9 million here as the small fish. I don't think we will get that there as a small fish. I just think Texas alone is probably a 80 million dollar school. The rest of the teams are probably another 80 or so. That brings us to 160 mill. Even if Texas and OK combined take 100 of that, we are still at the same point we were.

Excluding the Big 12, I don't think that there is a more unstable conference than the Big East.
