Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods
Do you people not realize that Texas is the reason that the Big 12 can negotiate a big tv contract? We need them a helluvalot more than they need us. If you want the big bucks, you gotta play the big boys! Get real people

Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods
First of all this is to be considered and denied by UT by next Tuesday; that ISU and the others don't want any part of UT will not be a factor. If the B12 were to remain, the biggest question is how to they balance the North and the South. The best answer would be to move OU to the north what Bebe proposed no doubt is to send TAM to the North as punishment for considering the SEC. Bebe is an idiot. Never mind, the Bebe proposal appears to delete the North/South alignment and without that there is no conference championship game. Since this whole thing has been about $$$$, how does eliminating the championship game affect the $$$$ ... probably not good.

Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods
For those that want to go to the Big East, it would never come close to $17 million + a year of television revenue. I understand the logic behind dumping Texas, but I like staying in the central time zone and an AD budget of over $50 million in the revamped big 12, to a $35 million or lower budget in the Big East.

Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods
yeah but isn't there something like Beebee is going to show "hey you can get 17mil PLUS you can all have your own networks!" well great if you're UT but ISU and the rest won't be able to make a "Cyclone Network" happen (not with any kind of financial returns).

You guys realize we wouldn't have made a bowl game this past year with this new Big XII, don't you?

Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods
It needs to have EQUAL revenue sharing

Schools like ISU, KSU and Baylor are struggling to survive and are trying to sustain what they already have so yeah, that might be beneficial to student-athletes, but that is not how they are analyzing the numbers when the meetings are going on with accountants.

WTF!! Run where...the MAC? CUSA?
I hate this sort of "loser mentality". Texas is reaping the rewards of having built a stellar university...both academically and athletically. And here you are moaning about them not "allowing" us to compete...that is total loser ********. We (alumni/fans, administration, and coaches/teams) control our ability to compete.

Reason: Filter avoidance

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

Even if this holds the Big 12 together for just a few more years it gives us some time to get our stuff together...and make no mistake, we need to get our stuff together relative to demanding more success of our coaches / teams, demanding better proactive planning from our administration, and demanding more committment (money, time, and other resources) from ourselves as alumni and fans of ISU. We have excellent coaches (FB,MBB,WBB,Wrestling,WBB etc) on board right now and this will give them time to do their stuff and make us a more desirable fit in the future if it does blows up. It also is the best geographical fit.

There is no way that Iowa State will ever turn down 17 million a year. No way.

Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods
We need this to happen. This would be a giant step forward for ISU (17 million per year). If we want to be considered a big-time program, we need to be in a conference with Texas and Oklahoma, even if it means playing them every year in football. Make this happen!!

The best answer would be to move OU to the north what Bebe proposed no doubt is to send TAM to the North as punishment for considering the SEC. Bebe is an idiot. If this happens, there would be no more north and south. All ten teams would play each other once in football and twice in basketball (like the Big 10 used to do before Penn State was added).
