I thought Bebeeee had other teams in mind
Now he wants to go at it with just 10? Why not throw an invite out to Memphis and Arkansas? Or another Texas school?

I assume he would, but who is going to join a conference that is close to breaking up. That would come next.
"For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived, and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."

"I'm proud to lead this program and this team in whatever we do. Whether it's a community service project, or through practice or winning a bowl game, but you don't do that without the kids believing and being all in, and going out there and accomplishing all [of] the goals and expectations that we set." - Coach Paul Rhoads -
Re: I thought Bebeeee had other teams in mind
Perhaps this is what has been discussed during his conversations with the remaining schools.

Re: I thought Bebeeee had other teams in mind
Texas needs someone to vote with them on not sharing revenue. They will not allow the league to expand beyond 10 unless they can guarantee that the current revenue agreement stays in tact as long as they are in the conference.

Re: I thought Bebeeee had other teams in mind
Beebe is not an active commish of the Big-XII. Everyone constantly bags his lack of initiative but his role not to move the Big-XII in any direction. This according to sports talk radio last week in KC. I believe the conversation was between Stan Weber and Kevin Keitzman last Friday afternoon.
They describe Beebe like a CPA for the Big-XII. He is an information source at the disposal of all Big-XII ADs and Presidents. I imagine he makes unsolicited recommendations but it seems apparent that it is not in his job description to make strategic decisions and execute them on behalf of the Big-XII. Perhaps commissioner is not an appropriate title?
Just what I heard.

Thus, the Big-XII ADs & Presidents (led by TX, which may be what bugged NU the most) are setting the strategy and ultimately making the decisions.

Just what I heard. Thats the problem. In many cases good companies have a good man in charge and tells the board what he is going to do. The board is just there to make sure he doesnt do too radical of things. When the board runs the show things like this happen. The Big 10-12 and PAC 10-12 commihes are out there doing their thing then getting the board to say yes or no and have their own ideas on the way things should be. Hell the MWC commish was making comments on the way he would like his confernce to to.

Why would you want to rob from ISU just to add another team to make the number in the conference higher.

Just what I heard. Its pretty clear that the active commissioner of the BigXII is the University of Texas. And at this point I am okay with that as they are getting us double to triple the money anywhere else would.

Correct, if you add teams that would not significantly increase the TV revenue it would dilute the value for each team. I don't think there are many teams out there available that are going to add $17 million each to the TV package.

Re: I thought Bebeeee had other teams in mind
he should have been going after BYU and Utah months ago. Once the cues that something was happening, he should have been proactive. The Big 10 mentioned months ago they were going to expand. How he thought Big 12 schools would not be targeted is beyond me, especially when you consider the current pathetic Big 12 tv contract. They were ripe for the picking.
