This has nothing to do with Texas. All of your Chicken Little ******** is getting old. But just so you can understand, getting the UT network up and running will take at least five years before they will know whether it is worth it.
This is about buying Iowa State time to get our **** together. This is about having a platform (a BCS/Top 6 conference) to build a foundation from. This is about increasing donation levels, and reseating arenas if need be. This is about giving the fb staff the resources necessary to build the program to a competitive level. This is about buying the Mayor time to fix what chewy did to the bb program.
To a much lesser extent, this is about keeping women's basketball and volleyball strong.
IF Iowa State can take this stay of execution, and do these things, we will possibly be able to position ourselves to not be a bystander the next time Fox decides to grow the big ten.
You need to get the sand out, and fix the victim attitude nonsense. Help be part of the solution, your attitude is a big part of the problem (no offense).
FYI... I don't have a victim attitude here. I am purely being skeptical of handing over our future to the same people that were more then willing to sell us out and leave us for dead. Personally I don't like the idea of ISU being exploited just so we can say we are in a BCS conference when we are at a huge competitive disadvantage.
But you are not admitting what was the fundemental truth in this whole deal. We had zero control over our fate.
I agree, this deal is not going to be beneficial, at least short term, for Iowa State, and the others. There is no way this could have been done, and had it benefit us. UT held all of the cards, and they know that.
My point is that, it doesn't matter right now. We get to stay in a relevant conference even if we are not relevant at this time. That aids recruiting, and coach retention.
If CPR is the coach that everyone seems to feel he is, then you just bought him his five years to get this program jump started. If he can't do that in that timeframe, then we have misjudged him. Same with Hoiberg, it is especially important when you realize that we are at the beginning of both of their tenures.
To have Iowa State booted from home in two years hanging over their heads cuts them off at the knees. Especially when the perception is that we bring nothing to the table for the BCS conferences out there, and we were on the outside looking in (which is true).
