Re: New "Big 12" TV Deal will be Substantial...
What is the effect on revenue from this part of the story?
As part of its proposed deal, FSN has asked to take control of the conference's third-tier rights that are currently controlled by rights holders IMG, ISP and Learfield, sources said. These rights include radio, local media, third-tier TV rights, corporate sponsorships, and in-stadium and arena signage. It is not known when these rights will be available.

They won't, but if it works like it does now, half of the TV money is split evenly (so 100 million/10=$10 million per school), the other half depends on how many times schools are on TV. Texas and OU would be on more national games you would assume so they would get a bigger percentage of the 2nd half of the $$$, but I-State would still get a cut (likely more than $5 million).

What is 'third tier tv'... is that like when mediacom picks up our games? Would fox be able to keep our games off mediacom22 in this deal?

UT - 26
OU - 23
A&M - 23
OSU - 20
TT - 20
KU - 19
MU - 18
KSU - 18
ISU - 17
BU - 16
200
With this we would be more than double what we currently get.

I simply can't fathom Fox paying the Big 12 SEC-type money after the BIg 12 loses one of its three brand names - Nebraska.

So...the Big 12 stands to make around $200 million JUST in TV revenue annually starting in 2012-2013. And it is split between 10 schools instead of 12.
When you add in the other Big 12 generators (BCS and NCAA tourney appearances) Iowa State will probably double and possibly triple the revenue generated from the conference.
How many times have you seen a quote exagerrated? Tell me how they are going from 19.5 to 130 million. That seems to defy any rational analysis.

One "positive" of playing Texas and OU every year is that we will be on TV with them more often. We might lose, but we may get on the national games more often and get more TV payout.
Also, if we beat them, everyone sees it!

Somebody posted the revenue split for I think it was 2 years ago. If the revenue is split in the same proportions as it was then, according to my figures ISU would receive over $17 million from TV revenue alone. Texas would receive about $23 million.
I think it would be a pretty safe bet we'd get over $14 million.
