At least he's like 90 years old so he won't be coaching much longer, right?
I'm surprised that he didn't want to bring in two IAA teams to the Big IIXII north to play in football each year, but keep the payouts to them cheap.

Why didnt we schedule 11 conference games and just play ultimate round robin in the 12 team configuration? Couldve still played one nonconference rivalry game even.
The answer is because most have found that having more nonconference teams can be better for the league because it can make sure more teams are in bowls (each conference win creates a conference loss, taking 1 win away from bowl eligibility). More teams in bowls = more money for the shared pot.

It sucks that you are so right.

I could see Snyder only wanting to play the 4 other teams in the division so he could schedule 8 cream puffs non-conference.

Big 12
2009: 11.5
SEC
2009: 11.8
I can't find any previous years so far.

I concede. You are correct.
In 2009, the primetime Big 12 Championship game on ABC doubled viewership of the SEC Championship on CBS that afternoon.
:notworthy:
Nevermind, I'm wrong again.
I was comparing ABC and CBS in primetime.
I digress. TV ratings are my krypton.

Re: Kansas State Coach Bill Snyder wants 5 team Divisions, Big12 Title Game
Regardless of whether or not the SEC Title game had better ratings, the Big 12 Conference Championship game is a highly watched event. In a league that is supposedly low on the television money totem pole, wouldn't it make sense to keep this game around? I would suspect that after the Red River Rivalry, this is the most watched Big 12 game of the year, and if not, it's probably in the top 5. Seems to me there must be a pretty compelling case against it.

I think it was around 14/15 million last year.

ok, $14-$15 million. that's a lot of coin. Is there a good reason why the Big 12 is ok with losing this?
