I would say it's less than a 50% chance Starling ends up at Nebraska because of the baseball draft. Nebraska had a similar situation with Carl Crawford in the late 90's. He signed his LOI but got a record deal for a 2nd round baseball draftee. He chose to play baseball instead of college football. Obviously a pretty wise decision on his part.
From what I understand the Royals want him real bad, and may pick him much higher in the first round just to get him. The Royals are on this kick right now, that they are going to take any kid from the area with any talent (like the Braves do, shocker i know). The kid is a legit talent, and with Alabama and Notre Dame offering scholly's i'm real surprised he went with Nebraska. This is making me think, NU told him he could play both, while Notre Dame and Alabama both were a little skeptical.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

I honestly can't think of a QB in the last 1-15 years Lee starts over at ISU. You may say Bret Meyer but with the lines he had I don't know if that is even true. I still think he was better than he was ever allowed to be here. I mean think about it, we have had two QBs starting the NFL the past couple years. Not a lot of schools can say that, especially Nebraska. Dont forget about Todd Doxzon -

Z Lee would start over that guy that transfered to North Carolina. The dude that was there when Callahan came in and tried to change the system. He was maybe the worst QB ever.

Nebraska hasn't had much LUCK keeping QB's from that neck of the Woods.
Josh Freeman
Gabbert #1
Gabbert #2
Let's hope this kid follows the same footsteps. -

I was thinking that as well, although Nebraska fans will tell you they "didn't want them"

Just goes to show it is a lot tougher to develop a pro style QB than an option QB. Nebraska hadn't had a bad starting QB until Billy C took over. The last few haven't been too great. Joe Ganz was pretty solid and Zach Taylor won the Big 12 offensive player of the year (I still have a hard time believing that), but neither of those guys were great.

If Starling doesn't make it to Nebraska, it will be for entirely different reasons.

FWIW....The Younger Gabbert is described as being more of a "football player" then his older brother and although a little smaller, more of a "gamer and leader"
that from a former Mizzou QB.

I would say it depends on a lot of things. OSu is having trouble with Pryor, while USC has done fine with Barkley. If you take equals as far as QB matching system like Focier at Michigan compared to Barkley at USC, I would say Prostyle has worked better. One of the tough things with an option QB is that he may be making a read on every play. With a pro style system a handoff is a handoff, an option QB is obviously not the same. In the and I don't think we can say one is easier or harder than the other. There are too many variables.
