Are you crazy.
That works for Washington, but how do you explain SDSU, Idaho, and W. Kentucky.
What really peeves me off is when people (here in Lincoln) make fun of K-States schedule.

Yea but its not like we schedule like this intentionally or consistently. Schedules are made years in advance, when these games were scheduled UCONN was an upstart independant and Utah was just another team from the MWC. Neither of those games was scheduled with the thinking that we're going to really beef up the competition in 2010/2011, it just happen to work out that both of those programs have made really big strides. On the other hand, when Nebraska scheduled Washington they were a top 10 program. Which basically means Nebby signed up knowing they'd get a shot at a big program, our schedule just fell together that way. I really hate defending Nebraska here but they also just played USC and Va Tech, and they play Tennessee after their home and home with UW, they have shown they'll answer the call when the big boys are looking for a game. There are plenty of big time programs that play a much softer schedule. Okay now I have to go puke for sticking up for the big red.

Well, with USC in trouble this season, a unproven coach, losing scholarship players....I see a new winner in the Pac 10 this season. U-Dub could be the big time surprise in 2010.

A once great program is slowly becoming average.
Clone to the Bone with the up and coming IOWA STATE. -

Is that San Diego State or South Dakota State? Both good calls, RING4CY. It IS South Dakota State, not San Diego State. The Cornhuskers are taking no chances with their non conference schedule. I'd take that schedule for Iowa State in a minute. This is one of the reasons, overlooked by the national media and fans outside of Nebraska, that Nebraska fans were so sick and tired of the Steve Pederson/Bill Callahan era. Pederson, on Callahan's request, built Nebraskas schedule to be one tough team (Washington was scheduled years ago) and 3 absolute cupcakes. Fans hate this crap.
One nice thing Osborne has done is beef up the schedule a bit. There is at least one marquee game a year, but going forward, starting in 2011, instead of WKU and Idaho Nebraska has Fresno St, Southern Miss, Wyoming etc...as their 2nd and 3rd non-conference games.

They actually play UCLA (2012 and 2013) after the UW seriers, then Miami in 2014 and 15, and Tennessee in 2016 and 17.

Re: Nebraska, really lightened up schedule!!
Before this love-fest for Nebbie gets out of control, TONS of teams play other high-level BCS schools in the non-conference. Off the top of my head in the last few years:
USC, Michigan, Mich St, Purdue, Boston College play Notre Dame almost every year
Colorado v. Florida State
OU v. Miami
ISU v. Iowa every year (duh)
Ohio State v. Texas
And for this year, here are some good matchups:
Boise State v. V-Tech
Ohio St. v. Miami
Penn St. v. Alabama
Utah v. Pitt
LSU v. W Virginia
OU v. Cincy
