Masoli to UNI rumor???

I didnt get to hear the end of the Miller and Deace show... Jon was saying something about Masoli (former Oregon QB) transfering to a smaller school like UNI. Anyone have any info on this? That would sure make the up coming game against the panthers exciting.

Although there are some good athletic department connections between UNI and Oregon, although none in football that I know of.

I believe he has graduated from Oregon and has one year of eligibility left. So I don't think he would have to transfer down to play right away. It would be similar to the Duke guard who graduated and then was QB for Syracuse last year. I could be mistaken though.

Considering other schools he has looked at have told him no, his only option maybe to move down a level and play at a school like UNI if he wants to play this coming year.

There is no way he will end up transfering down. Are you telling me some no AQ schools aren't going to take a chance on him. I see any team in the MWC (excluding Utah, BYU, and TCU) and any team in the WAC as great options. Why would a team like UNLV, for example, not want him?

TCU, Utah, and BYU don't want him. They are too good and/or religious regions to put up with his crap. A team like UNLV, Fresno, etc. would take him.

If he moves down he can play right away, if he wants to stay in Division 1, then he'll need to red-shirt a year. He still has his red-shirt year to burn.

The problem he is running into is he doesn't want to sit a year so since he already graduated he has to find a school that offers a graduate program that Oregon doesn't that he can enroll in and not sit a year, so that will limit where he can go as well. It isn't as easy as saying I'm leaving Oregon and going to wherever to keep playing at the FBS level, but he can go anywhere and play at the FCS level because the graduate program requirement doesn't come into play.

Unless he goes to a school that offers a graduate program that Oregon doesn't since he has graduated, in this case he can play right away without sitting a year.

To repeat, as I did a few times on air today, I have not heard or seen anything on this. It was more of 'Hey, the kid is striking out at the FBS level, what about FCS, and UNI has taken players with baggage before and its worked out and they need a QB.'
