The $6 Million Question: Will Move To Big 10 Hurt Nebraska's Efforts In Texas?
I've said from day one it's a lot of hot air about absolutely nothing. Too early to tell but here's a Houston area high school coach who seems to agree: Lone Star recruiting still in play for Huskers - Omaha.com -

And when they disappear from Texas TV sets to the BTN and ABC midwest regional feed it will have absolutely no effect! -

While discussing the Huskers, Svoboda mentioned that he coached another player last year whose name might resound within Nebraska: JaMichael Rozier, the son of Husker Heisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier.
The younger Rozier rushed for some 1,700 yards at Klein Collins last year but picked a scholarship from Prairie View A&M over NU’s walk-on offer.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I think it will cut their Texas recruits by half, but it won't matter because they got paid... -
Re: The $6 Million Question: Will Move To Big 10 Hurt Nebraska's Efforts In Texas?
It will hurt recruiting dont let it fool ya. 16 kids in the Big 10 are from Texas, how many play for NU? Sorry dude kids from Texas dont want to play in the Big 10, the numbers dont lie.

As of today, 8/5/2010, there are 26 Texas kids on the NU FB roster. Let's come back in subsequent years and see what happens to that number.

I'm not convinced either way right now. The proof will come about 4-5 years down the road when Nebraska hasn't played the Texas teams for a few years.

Wing nuts must not realize that kids from Texas play in the Big 12 because they get to play in their homestate alot. Aside from OSU, the Big 10 has not played in Texas outside of bowl games in recent memory.

Anyway, the coach they quote in the article is a former NU walk-on so of course he is going to be slanted. Iowa now has only 2 players from the state of Texas with a majority coming from Iowa, Illinois, and other Midwest enclaves they have built up.
I think this is how the Nebraska roster will morph over the next 4 to 5 years, with a little more national approach. Nebraska is going to have to build midwest relationships in new territories, and quickly.
