THIS IS A MUST READ !!! Amazing numbers and amazing arrogance. If Perkins gets run ouf of KU I' would not be surprised if he ends up in congress. His sense of entitlement and self indulgence would fit right in. I'm sure the taxpayers in the great state of OZ are proud.

Holy crap!
On many of his trips, Perkins hired car services to get around. ...including $1,827 during two days in New York
Not sure if I tried I could spend nearly $2K in NYC... for EVERYTHING, much less just transport.
And how the hell do you sepnd $380 for ground transportation in Columbia Missouri? A limo with a lead car sprinkling rose petals to line your path? -

You hit it on the head, these numbes pale in comparionson to what politicians spend on stuff like this. Just take a look around and see what our first lady requires to travel. It's disgusting.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -

Traveling by private means is the norm in today`s business climate. There really is nothing that stands out to me as being extraordinary here.

I was over at the Big XII wrestling tournament in Lincoln, during Cael Sanderson's final year as the coach. JP was over there sitting in the front row. Anybody want to guess how much he spent going over there? How much does a tank of gas cost?

Or where he spent over $300 for ground transport on the same trip where Bill Snyder spent $45?
If JP ever even approached this, the fan base should be livid. People donate money for the progam and the student-athletes. Not for the AD to pamper himself like Ceasar

I have been around and dealt with CEO's, CFO's, etc. of some of the largest ag companies in the world who deal with more money in one year than KU athletics will make in 100 and their travel budgets and what they demand for travel are no where near this.
Last year I had the oppurtunity to spend two days with the CEO of one of the nations largest ag retailers and he flew to Des Moines business class and rented a Ford Taurus while he was here. Stayed in a standard King bed room in a hotel in WDM. The two nights we went out to eat we went to Raccoon River Brewery and Waterfront. You do the math, nowhere near 8K for two days.
What perkins is doing is excessive and he has taken advantage of the university.

And can you imagine what other sports they could offer if they cut perkins' travel budget?

Re: KU AD tallies big bill flying on private planes while team takes bus
Perkins always has been and always will be a scumbag. The only news here is the University is sick of his crap and is now not covering things up for him. The happiest people about Perkins leaving KU are the Regents and President of KU
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

It's not that he was traveling by private means. It's about how he averaged spending $6,818 a flight, whereas the Kansas State AD spent $2,843 a flight for example.
