Unfortunately, it seems as if many classes that are listed as "US Diversity/International Perspectives" are not taught well (based on comments I've heard from others regarding these courses). My impression is that these courses simply require students to regurgitate information rather than actually learn about the culture/topic at hand.

This reminds me of one of my favorite transfer credit scams. Students who already know languages other than English can take CLEP tests and get college credit for Spanish, French, etc.

Re: ISU Students: Class Schedule Advice
I took Phil 235 Ethical Issues in a Diverse Society, and it was the easiest class ever. There were three 1 page assignments (your opinion on some book we read) and if you were a graduating senior you didn't have to do the third assignment. Attendance was important, so if you have trouble actually attending class then it is slightly harder to get an A.

Intro to Women's Studies (W S 201) may not be a bad idea, either...
And of course, there's HD FS 276 It all depends on your professor. I enrolled in Religion 210 and dropped it after the first day - I found out a large portion of my grade would be based on a group project. Group projects are great theoretically, but someone always ends up doing most of the work and that someone always seems to be me.
Also, I ended up taking W S 201. My professor was a hard-*** about everything (to the point of publicly berating someone if they got up and left lecture early) and it wasn't as easy as it sounds. Plus you have to listen to a lot of "men are the devil" the entire semester. Not fun at all. Plus, what do you know, there was a group project at the end that they didn't say anything about early on, damn it.
Take the sex class, I've heard its interesting.

Re: ISU Students: Class Schedule Advice
I took HDFS 276, easy enough. It seems like there are a lot of easy classes that fall into a diversity class. It seems like they will give you a good grade just because you signed up to learn about a topic they are passionate about.

Re: ISU Students: Class Schedule Advice
I took Sp Cm 323. It wasn't terrible. A lot of talk about the gay community, gender confusion, gender roles, etc. It actually was kind of interetsing and if I remember correctly, not hard at all. I got an easy A.

I still need a US diversity, and am looking into this class.

And not everyone wanted to sample it so there were leftovers. My problem was that it didn't work with my schedule very well and I wanted to partake in the sampling, but couldn't because I had CyRide shifts afterwards.
HDFS 276... take it. It's a fun class and you'll probably learning something about sex that you never knew before. Plus, if you have a science or engineering related degree, it's a class that has a bunch of hot girls in it!

soc 235 is a great class. we ended up going to the professors house to make food of the 4 types of people we learned about. it ended up turning into us getting drunk freshman year

It is a laid back class, which makes sense given the subject matter. Lots of extra credit stuff to help make sure you get an A. Outside of the STD stuff it was a pretty good class, might as well take a class that you will like.

Yeah, how easy is it to get the Intro to Beverages class? I'll be eligible spring semester. But I figure the class would be full by the time my registration date comes around.
