Re: Jobs
Apply at UPS. They are hiring part time people according to the website in the Ames location. I worked for UPS in college, great college job. https://ups.managehr.com/screening/h...06%2c31%26l%3d -

Re: Jobs
I led a freshman chemistry workshop for $14/hr. It was easy, paid well, and as an added bonus, you look like a hero to the hot freshman girls who come to get help.

Re: Jobs
Not sure if it is still an option or not as I know the Athletic Department took over Hilton, but when I was there, I worked for Iowa State Center setting up for concerts, moving the basketball floor in and out, sweeping after b-ball games, ect. It was awesome cause you got full access to all the buildings from basements to rooftops and everything in between. You could set your own schedule there too. I would look into that.....just don't let them rope you into concessions or traffic.

Re: Jobs
Recreation Services -- intramurals or at Lied, Beyer, or State at the front desk and/or upstairs in the weight rooms. Will the new building be open this fall? If so I'm sure they'll be hiring for that building. Also if you're a lifeguard you can make good money. Set your own hours in all rec services positions...easy work, watch people play sports, chat it up with the "regulars"

Only partially As long as you can appear confident in your decisions and don't ruffle easily, people will have your back.

And the intramural pay isn't the greatest, but you get paid to work max 40 minutes of the hour. Yes you deal with some people with crappy attitudes, but you can tell them to leave if they're just being a-holes. The number of people you meet and the amount of friends you can acquire is unreal though. I probably know a couple hundred extra people and have friendships with many of them just because of the intramural connection.

Re: Jobs
On campus jobs are the best. I worked at one of the Engineering Depts in the main office. Made copies, got the mail, ran errands, etc. Cakewalk job, great pay ($8/hour at the time), and a flexible schedule since they work around all your classes.
Ended up changing to a building maintenance position in the same dept after a year or so, and that was just as easy. Moving professor's offices/labs, painting, assembling new desks, etc. If there was nothing to do, we surfed the net and got paid for it.

Re: Jobs
the parking nazis should be hiring for this fall. you cant work more than 20 hours and they are flexible with your schedule. granted you do become hated by the whole campus

I'm working an on campus job for the Engineering College this summer doing tours, summer programs, office work, etc and I really like it. Flexible hours, pretty easy work, and looks great on the resume. Don't get paid as much as some other jobs (no tips obviously) but it's a lot more laid back, and it's a good chance to get to know more people who work for ISU and use as a potential future job reference. Found the job by talking to my academic adviser, I would recommend doing this if you're interested in something similar.

Is there anywhere you can find a job/application with the Engineering Dept. online?

A friend was a server at a sorority house. He said the work was easy, the scenery was pleasant, and the fringe benefits were outstanding.

Re: Jobs
Apply for something in your field of study, they have lot's of things for students. If you get desperate just work for the c-store or dining center (they are always hiring).

Re: Jobs
Where does one find these jobs?
The student job board never seems to be that great.
