Sigh that place was awesome, and Lost and Found back then was pretty great too. Now days its just another crappy college bar, and between it sucking, and peoples being gone, Welch is about the only decent bar in campustown. When I'm back in Ames, its either Welch Ave or Cafe B.

Speaking of Cafe B, they have a pretty mean burger there too, maybe not the best in Ames, but it is the best in campustown.

Beaudelaire Baru - Cafe Beaudelaire

Late 90s Cy's Roost buck burgers is a great answer. Haven't been there in years, but why exactly is it so different?

Say it ain't so! Cy's Roost was a great change of pace bar with good food when I went to school from 77-81. "Cy's Fries" hit the spot after a few hours of drinking. Met my wife there in '81.

I'll cast my vote for Wallaby's, but it's been ages since I had a burger in Ames. The Gigglin' Goat in Boone was pretty good when I was there somewhat recently.

They completely re-did the inside. Gone are the old booths with all the carvings etc. It doesn't even look like the same place....no idea wth they were thinking. :sad:

Wallaby's is a great place, and the people who work there have always been nice.

I haven't been there since it changed ownership, but Whiskey River used to have some of the best burgers that I've ever had. Not sure what they're like now.

Otherwise, I vote for the Spanish Burger at Cafe B.

If you're in Ankeny or Des Moines, check out Smashburger, too.
