Re: Hunt Street
My last Hunt St. party that I attended naturally ended with the cops coming. Apparently I must have been the only person that was 21+ at the party as I got to hold about 6 different people's backpacks with "stuff" inside of them. I always enjoyed drinking my beer when the cops show up as youngins' would go scattering over fences and through lawns. Oh what good times.

In fact, we did a couple times after we were of age just for the rush.
Be careful though, at a party early in my college days I was literally "clotheslined" by a clothesline (who has those anymore? ) over by S Dakota while "evading capture". I'm sure there was probably nobody after us, but were laughing and diving through backyards after a party got busted when all of a sudden something catches me in the chest (luckily I've 6'3" and avoided decapitation) and flips me on my back. Thank goodness all the cheap beer was in my system or that really could have hurt. -
Re: Hunt Street
I believe Hunt Street is where the Veishia riots from '04 started.

Re: Hunt Street
I don't remember the number but we always called it the "Big Yellow House on Stanton." It had some epic parties from '99 until they built that huge apartment building there. I remember talking to Tyray Pearson in the keg line and taking shots with Tinsley on the porch the day before a game. Good times.

I have ALWAYS found that its best to just stay and take it, even be the one doing the talking... That is, if you are in any state to talk. I think they (cops) actually appreciate that and cut you some slack...

I haven't attended many house parties in the last couple of years, but it seems that the cops really don't give MIP's to people at large parties. They seem to be pretty good about how they have handled breaking up parties with lots of minors, at least the ones that I have been at in the last 5-6 years.

I hope someone is still carrying on the Hunt Street party tradition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I lived in the duplex across the street from those apts for a summer in 1986 and friends lived there the following two years. So spent a lot of time on Hunt. When we moved in, the guys who had lived their previously had left some chicken and other meat in the freezer in the basement for the new tenants. Unfortunately, the electric co turned the power off between tenants, so there was quite an aroma when we moved in.

Re: Hunt Street
For you former Hunt Street party goers, you will be happy to know that the 2004 VEISHEA riot did start from the breaking up of a mega party (the details were a little unclear, but I heard as many as 500 people at a house party. Not sure if any of the places over there could hold 1/2 that many people, but you get the idea)
It was the breaking up of this party and pushing the people to Welch from Hunt that made that VEISHEA unforgetable
Funny thing - my friends and I were looking for accomidations besides the dorms and found a nice house on Hunt, which one of my friends (who is not a big party person) really liked. I finally had to crush her crush on this house by pointing out the significance of where that house was located...

I've had the same experience... Police showed up at a party I was at once and told everyone but the owner to leave. I proceeded to set my cup down, leave the bottle of vodka I'd just got, and walked home as quickly and soberly as I could...
Far as I know the owners didn't even get in that much trouble
My understanding from that experience, a few others and from talking with the police is they try to break up a party with as few citations as possible, so if you be cool they'll be cool

Re: Hunt Street
Anyone still get out to Lincoln Swing, way out on the west side. I forget the address, but, from '91-'93 I lived in the white 2 story house out there. I think everything else was just apartments at the time. I keep forgetting to head out there to see if the house is even still there. We did throw a couple big bashes out there when we lived there.
I've always wondered if the Pink Floyd Mural I painted on my bedroom wall was still there.

Cops came told people to leave. We were walking to another party and somebody else leaving the party got in their car and ran into the cop car parked out front. It was pretty funny to watch, but after that everyone seemed to move more quickly in leaving the place.

Re: Hunt Street
I lived on Hunt from Jan 1997 - Aug 1999. It was a white duplex on the North side of the road, 2619 Hunt to be exact. Had some great parties there and the cops visited a few times, too. I believe they were there at the graduation party for the Spring 98 semester when we burned my roommate's loveseat in the backyard. Some of you may remember my roommate - a redhead named Grady. Hard to forget a guy like him.
