Re: new Chemistry building

I believe once they build the new ag building between Howe and Design, the new Chemistry building is going where Davidson hall currently is and that is going to get tore down for the Chem expansion I think

I had to interview DPS for a paper I wrote a few years ago on college parking, and they said Davidson and the Armory were both going to be torn down to make room for a new building and parking facility. Not sure if that is still the plan or not...

That's the plan. Ag engineering will move from Davison to the new building that they will build between Howe and design.

Isn't Davidson Hall Ag Engineering and AST majors? Whats wrong with putting the building between howe and design considering they already got soil borings and are starting construction this spring.

I didn't think you could tear down building at Iowa State at least on campus since it is a land grant college

that is a valid point, I don't know how that really works, it'd be a good thing to ask my teacher tomorrow morning.

They're going to tear down the Armory? That's a drag. I know it's not in the best of shape, but I spent the better part of my freshman year inside that building for my design studio. I remember going up to the rafters during an all-nighter, imagining what it'd be like to watch a basketball game there.

Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.

The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success.

Well they can definetly tear them down, I don't know what the approval process is though. They tore down the Old English Office Building (I think that's what it was) that used to be between Beardshear and Carver. They also tore down some building by the water tower to build Hoover I believe.

They've already torn down a beautiful and historic Naval Science building, they may as well tear down the Armory.

Good grief. The Armory was officially "Way Cool" imo.

The Engineering Annex is what you're thinking about. The building was a dump, but it was still sad to see it go. I think tearing down the Armory is a shame.

Davidson is probably the building in the worst condition on campus, and that was 6 years ago when I last had a class there, it needs to go. I do hate to see the armory go though i think I only went in it a couple times to fight parking tickets but it seems like a very historic place to tear down.

Exhibit Hall also used to be in that area. They used to house livestock there many, many years ago. I heard the marching band used to practice there, too. (I'm assuming not at the same time livestock was kept there.) And the student-run cable channel had their studios there up until it was torn down around 2000.

Well, considering they've already got the plans, fundraising, and have taken measures to remove the marching band from that field, I'm pretty sure you're wrong on this one.
