Police Tear Gas Crowd at College Party

My Way News - Police Tear Gas Crowd at College Party

Got that from the Drudge Report. I clicked on the link fully expecting it to be about ISU. I was attending ISU when the infamous VEISHEA riot happened in the early 90s. Actually, I was studying very close by, and I remember going outside and smelling the tear gas.

Fortunately, this time it was Michigan State. ISU students don't have a monopoly on drunken stupidity.

By no means do we have a monopoly on it... but we do help the Ames PD refresh their stock of tear gas every once in a while so that it doesn't expire (For the record, most/all of the tear gas in the 2004 riot had expired year and years earlier, which ment it had much less of an effect that it should have )

Out of curiosity, was that early 90's riot the one where a bonfire was built in the street, which melted the asphalt?

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!

I think it was 1987, possibly 1988. I graduated in 1986 and lived in Chicago; I knew (in passing) the gymnest who was hanging from the light standard above the bonfire on Welch. It was entertaining to watch the footage on CNN...
