The last two years were absolutely perfect. Yet, of course, they must mess with a good thing and poke the sleeping dog that is VEISHEA with a stick. The dog will wake up pretty ******, I hope nothing bad will happen this weekend but something probably will. Oh well.

Re: It's VEISHEA Weekend!
You know, the whole concert fiasco could work fine, they just did it completely wrong. They needed to make two minor changes. First, sell wristbands or whatever for 7000 per night. That way, potentially 14,000 could at least see one concert or whatever. Just not on the same night, so that way they could have all the control or whatever they want.
Then, if they did that, just make the wristbands 2.50 a piece. Then if one person wants to see both, it's still just $5, and they make all the money they need or whatever.
But if that was going to really work, they would need to sell to anybody. Just give ISU students, staff, and faculty first priority. For most of the week, only allow one wristband per student or staff or whatever. Then, towards the end of the week, let whoever buy as many as they want.
Now they just need to not keep moving up the date when the weather is going to be too cold!!

I predict Veishea will not have concerts in the near future.

Of course, the snow forcast tomorrow doesn't help. I think that is the point... if it were 70 and sunny out today, people would be out drinking starting last night. And then all getting together in a group, and we see what happends when that goes on.

I will be very surprised if we even have a Veishea next year. I have a bad feeling about this weekend.

Re: It's VEISHEA Weekend!
The only fun part of Veishea for me were the house parties. Going to the bar was stupid unless you wanted to hang at one crowded *** bar all night or wait in line in the cold all night.

I don't think anything is going to happen, weather is too crappy, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people stay in, it doesn't really feel like VEISHEA right now, just a normal weekend. And not as many people are coming because of the crappy weather and they can't go to the concerts since they aren't ISU students.

Re: It's VEISHEA Weekend!
*Sigh*... VEISHEA was so great last year... weather was awesome! Although, Cyclone Idol was pretty cool in Stephens, and I'm excited to see John Oliver tonight.

Re: It's VEISHEA Weekend!
*sigh* REALLY wish I didn't have to go home to to pre-marriage stuff this weekend... I thought I was in the clear. Picked tomorrow thinking "Spring Game is the 19th... VEISHEA's always the week after!" WRONG!
On top of missing VEISHEA, Yuri's Night is tomorrow, as well. Gotta party extra hard for missing that.
Just promise me this. If we start a riot, make sure to take it downtown. I think it'd be funny to trash Ames' part of town instead of ours and give them a little return on their investment for all the anti-student BS they put us through. -
Re: It's VEISHEA Weekend!
Do we have a bookie event for if there will be a riot?

Re: It's VEISHEA Weekend!
So what are Cyclone Fanatics doing for VEISHEA?
I'm just treating it pretty much as another weekend (work as usual) just with more people in town.

What does that have to do with there being absolutely no good bands, and the multiple mess-ups that the committee had with scheduling and the wrist bands?

Each night there would be keg parties on numerous dorm floors. Many frats would advertise 100 keg parties. They would block off the street and have bands. There were house parties all over. The legal drinking age was 19 at the time. There was never anything close to a riot since everyone was spread out partying in the dorms, frat land and off campus. There was no reason to even think of going to a bar since free beer was everywhere. Those were the days-we were drunks, but we were harmless. You could walk from the Towers to MWL, to Ash and back again and never have an empty glass of beer, and it was all free.
