So with it being nice out, I'm gonna head home and bring my clubs up.
Now note I haven't played for about 5 or 6 years but just curious what you guys think of the different courses around Ames?
I'm also curious if there are any driving ranges? I think Veenker may have one, but Im not sure
Thanks in advance

If you haven't golfed for awhile go to Homewood or Oaks. I was at Homewood last friday for my first round of the season and it sure helps to make you feel better about yourself.
You can also go to Coldwater for a driving range.

You think that now... but as soon as you shank or hook one really bad like often happens to me, you realize those trees aren't always a bad thing...

Veenker is an awesome course in Ames, I got so used to playing Veenker that when I moved every golf course around cedar falls and waterloo are terrible compared to it. Veenker is challenging but very fun. Its why its a top public course in Iowa and where they play the Iowa Masters Tournament

If you can make a 15 minute drive check out River Bend in Story City. IMHO if you are looking for a 9-hole course it destroys Homewood or Oaks. And if you get up there during the week there are some good specials that make very inexpensive.
