Re: GSB Updates

A completely dead "dead week" would (a) make each semester a week longer, (b) lead teachers to have every project/final assignment due the Friday before Dead Week, which would lead to (c) massive partying and no studying from Friday before Dead Week until about Thursday of Dead Week.

Here's one vote for "it's probably fine the way it is now."

For perspective, KU only has one dead day - Friday before finals - where there are no classes. The rest of the week before finals is just like any other day in a semester.

Oh yeah, and Dan Fischer is a good kid and should be good for the University and the Student Body.

Here's the thing though.

Should we not have a true dead week because some people can't refrain, and party instead?

I understand where some of you are coming from - and those are very valid points. In fact, it's something that should be addressed before making a decision like that.

So let me get this straight, people actually study during dead week or want to study during dead week? Apparently I never met these people.

Wanting to and doing are two different things ;)

I think most people want to study. That doesn't mean they will.

Re: GSB Updates

Personally, I'd just like to not have to freak out during dead week because there is so much class related crap I have to do, and then wake up Saturday realizing, oh man, I have a final on Monday!

But it's true, even if they made "dead" week actually dead, I'm sure professors wouldn't listen.

No classes during dead week would have been amazing. I probably wouldn't have cracked a book until at least the thursday of that week but it would have been great.

One of the things that we are going to try to get done this year is make Dead Week an actual "Dead Week". No classes, tests, or homework. Just a week to study before finals.

Most of the first two weeks have just been electing senators into Committee chairs, but it sounds like we have a good group that is interested in getting things done around campus.

There are also some new changes happening within the university - such as a complete overhaul of the budget system.

Anyways, that's it until we're back this fall.
I think EIU should have dead year. Maybe that would keep more players out of jail.
