In all seriousness, Dr. Kruempel was a really great professor and his class is really the first one that made me buckle down and actually work through a class and made me understand what I was working on.
He may be anal but he makes engineers pay much much more attention to the details I guess I should respect the man, but I hated his classes. Part of it was that it was those stupid "TV" rooms and he was putting on a show. He was very hard to talk to, and came off very aloof. May have been a great guy, but came off kind of uncaring. EDIT: That Rofflehaus thing was pretty funny.
The guy I LOVED in EE was Chester Comstock. He understood what it was like to be embarrassed and really cared for the students. I think he won teacher of the year in EE more than once.

I know it may not be popular but Hector Avalos is a good teacher. He makes you learn, even if he is very biased.

Mani Mina. Took his Electromagnetic class (EE311?). Outstanding teacher, very funny. He really stands out when I think of all my profs.
Comstock is a great one too.
Someone mentioned Dr. Wilt. Sadly he passed a year or so ago.
Its funny, I knew many of the professors on this list since I grew up in Ames. I am friends with many of their kids and didn't even know their parents were profs until I took their classes years later.

My favorite was Lester Wilson.
He came to Ames 30 years ago after getting his PhD in Food Technology at Cal-Davis, and he's still at ISU. Smiling and teaching.

Where are all the Ag Profs? I guess I'll add a few. Easily my favorite is Dr. Loynachan. I had him for Agron 354 and he is my advisor too. Great guy and fun to talk too. Dr. Manu for Agron 154 is hilarious. Dr. Wiedenhoeft and Dr. Hasselman are fun professors too.
I like Clem but hate accounting. Dr. Northway for Religion 210 was good too. Really interesting class.

Gary Wells, I don't think I have ever been so inspired as I was at the introduction speech of his psych 280 class.

Every wall in his office is book shelves full. you can't even see the back of the book shelves because he has stuff stuffed horizontally in there. (needs to update the pic I'm thinking) :) What a great guy! Started out in design and had him for 102. He would always sit and talk while I was working on projects.

But he's really cool. Tests are ridiculously hard. Seriously. HARD. But he curves it a lot--I had a 65% on the tests and came out with a B+. Wish I had a reason to take Acct 316 Even if you don't have a reason, take it! He will get to know you and he really wants you to learn. Plus the class is on an A-B curve, so it is impossible to get below a B. Gotta love that.

I'd love to take 316, but it's restricted to College of Business students, and I'm no longer in business. Switched to Kinesiology this past year. Thinking about a business minor though, anyone know if that would be enough to take 316?

Props to Block here too but I really liked Dr. John Cunnally, Design. He talked funny, looked funny and was a great lecturer. One time he made a crack about pre child labor laws US and Britain and how if there was a fire in the factory and the kids were all killed it was no big deal because there was an endless supply of kids. You had to be there but he said clever stuff like that all the time. And the dude was an encyclopedia of design and design history.
