Its changing ownership like said earlier

Re: Keg Shop closed
Yeah, it's changing ownership. They have been trying to get ride of all their liquor inventory and when new cases of beer came in they didn't even take inventory, they just sold them. They will be restocking everything and be back open in full force in a couple of weeks.

Nothing beats a free keg from the Keg Shop.

Re: Keg Shop closed
When they changed owners about 2 years ago, it really went down hill. It went from a mountain of beer on fire sale to about 3 cases of miller lite laying on the floor. Hopefully these new owners restore it to its pre-2007 greatness.

The Keg Shop has been under the same owner since the early 90's. As far as the firesale mountain of beer, it's probably mostly due to the distributors keeping closer tabs on their supply in the market.
All firesale beer was in the first place was beer that was getting close to going past date and they knew the Keg Shop would be able to move it quickly. It was better for the distributor to sell the beer to the keg shop for a couple bucks off each case instead of dumping it.

Re: Keg Shop closed
We went in there a few months ago and I was saddened by the lack of inventory. I hope they get back to "normal" soon!

Re: Keg Shop closed
We had a keg shop dolly at our house on Welch. The Keg Shop was nice enough to let us "borrow" it so we wouldnt have to drive the half block!

Re: Keg Shop closed
I went in there last September and they had leinenkugel sunset wheat kegs for $40.. We bought 3 of them.
I heard they ran into the same licensing problem that Sgt. Peppers ran into. Something about they didn't have the proper license for liquor and were closed down for a bit..
