There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -
Re: VEISHEA Bands announced
Who's actually bought tickets for this weekend? I broke down this afternoon. One of the bands in the battle is one I usually try to catch when they play in Ames, and while I'm not a big Trapt fan, I wasn't a big Saliva fan either and had a good time at that concert. If nothing else I didn't see anything else Friday night I'd rather be doing.

Re: VEISHEA Bands announced
Last week the Daily said there were 3,500 tickets sold. I'm betting 2,500 are freshmen.

Re: VEISHEA Bands announced
I bought a ticket... I also have two extras for my sister and friend that won't arrive until Saturday.
Anyone know if I can let two of my other friends use those tickets and get a wristband on Friday... and then transfer the wristband/tickets to my sister and friend for Saturday? I don't see how that would be a problem... unless they do something with them I don't know about. Anyone?

The wristbands would be really tough to transfer because they will be snug on your wrist and they would most likely break if you pull hard enough. Then again, last year at 80/35 i drew a replica of my friends' wristbands and went the second day. I taped it, to my wrist. They barely even looked at it. They might not notice if you do that.

They don't give you a new wristband for Saturday night?? Lame!! What if you want to take a shower? Do they survive that?

Re: VEISHEA Bands announced
If it's a plastic wrist band, you can shower with them
If they are paper, that is lame

Also lame that they moved the concert to the very north end of campus...

Re: VEISHEA Bands announced
I remember when the flaming lips played their boom box experiment and were booed the whole time. It was pretty sad behavior. Then the crystal method came on and did a good job.
I like the flaming lips now but had no idea what to expect then, and was actually on stage as one of the participants for the boom box experiment, was pretty awesome concept album, Iowa wasn't ready for them though.

A lot of people will be shaking their heads when a big freight train goes rumbling by at about 150 yards away... -
Re: VEISHEA Bands announced
lol I hadn't even thought of the frieght train, I was too busy trying to contemplate the accoustics of having Moly Bio behind and that glass green house building (mind blank here at 2 a.m.) to one side....
Thats a lot of glass to reflect sound
I mean yeah you're moving it away from the bars as far as possible and you don't need to worry about residences there, but man thats a crappy location for a stage!
EDIT: On a side note... I think I'll have to break out the "Wasn't VEISHEA '04 a Riot?" shirt out this weekend Only picture I could find of the shirt I'm talking about

LOL... I would guess with budgets the way they are, we are lucky to get the ones listed.

Re: VEISHEA Bands announced
I have yet to figure out why VEISHA doesn't bring a huge concert to Ames and have it at Hilton during the weekend. It would be nice to have a headliner play instead of garage bands that nobody has ever heard of.
