Here's another funny thing that I realized since working full time. The amount of work I do in a week, would be a semester-long project in college. If you think about the amount of work you have to put in during college and compare it to how much work you will put in when you have your career, you'll see why we viewed college as awesome.
Enjoy college while you're there. Live gets crazy when you're done with school. Jobs can be every bit as awesome as college. IMO life improves considerably after college.
Its not how many hours that you work that can turn a job into drudgery. What has significance is whether you enjoy your line of work and your job. When you enjoy your job the money becomes a bonus.

I didn't even skip that often while at ISU, but that dream always gets me. I have this same nightmare. In mine, I don't remember the date or time of the class because I have skipped so much. But I rarely skipped in college. Wonder what that means??.........

While I don't think college is that hard, I do not agree that college was the best years of my life. Every year of my life has been better, with some bumps in the road.
It just took me stubbornly not "settling" for second best, or "comfort". I didn't settle on a comfortable mate, I held out for a wicked beautiful and talented woman, whom I love madly. Frankly, up until recently, my professional life has had its ups and downs.
But let me tell you, last week, at the tender age of 45, I called in a freaking Air Strike. And not in Call of Duty or some video game. Life is all what you make it. People live awesome lives all the time; they just choose to do so.
To me, it doesn't matter that I work 90+ hours a week. (I do miss my wife and kids, though ) I truly love what I do. If I don't, I find something else to do.

Some students might get away with a schedule like that, but not all of us. I am up by 6:30am every day to do homework, 7:30am on weekends. I have classes on Saturdays and Sundays. My M-F school days begin at 8:00am, and I don't get done until 8:00pm or 10:00pm, with a maximum of a one-hour break during that time.
I am in the spring semester of my senior year, and since starting at ISU, I have had a COMBINED total of 8.5 weeks off of school. I always have tons of work over Thanksgiving and Spring breaks (and always stay at school until Wednesday of break, and come back Saturday morning). I have been in summer school for the last three summers and will be this summer. I even have big projects over Christmas break, generally about 70-75 hours of work. In fact, I have tried my hardest to find online classes to squeeze in during Christmas breaks (but have been unsuccessful). All of this is required.
I'm sure there are students out there who drink 7 days a week, sleep in, and never have any work to do on breaks, but there are a crap-ton of us who are the exact opposite. Don't blanket us in with those losers.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

I certainly didn't take my summers off since I worked to get money to pay for my schooling. In addition, I held down a part time job while attending college to help pay my college expenses.
If you took the summer months off, you obviously had someone else you depended on to pay your college expenses. Perhaps you could also ask that they give you a post-college stipend since you find being employed so disagreable.

Re: For all of you who miss the college life
My professors were kind enough to give me a huge group project, an individual presentation, and a paper all due within the first few days of getting back from spring break...kind of put a damper on my break!

Re: For all of you who miss the college life
I missed the social life a year or two after college, but other then that have not missed college life at all. I didnt' like studying all the time and being broke most of the time.
Some of my most enjoyable years were when I first moved to Cedar Falls at age 25. Had a steady pay check coming in and could still party with and date the college coeds(one who I ended up marrying )
However, got to agree with Phaedrus that every year since has gotten better. Life is mostly about attitude and the ability to adapt and enjoy new situations. I've got three little kids right now that keep me home all the time, but I probably feel about as fulfilled as any time in my life.

One question: does the campus look different in your dream, too?
