Better than 2004?? No way man. No Peoples, no hole-in-the-wall Es Tas... I went back earlier this year, just wasn't the same.
Not having People's/Lumpy's is a huge loss, but I prefer new Es Tas to hole in the wall Es Tas. It's also paving the way for a good hole in the wall bar at the old Es Tas and is 10x better than Club 8.
However...
Sgt Pepper's >>>>> Phuel
Capone's>>>>>Mojazz
Mother's>>>>>>Boheme
Outlaws (while I'm not a fan) actually draws people to that location
Jeff's Pizza offers legit pizza by the slice in a location that used to be a death trap.
Angie's is a GREAT drunk food joint that didn't exist
Across the board the mix of food and bars in Campustown is better than it was 4 years ago. No doubt about it.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
I think that ISU and Ames both need to start doing a better work of upkeep and cleaning stuff up before they insert a green space into campus town. Don't get me wrong, I love our campus and think it's beautiful but ISU has kinda dropped the ball on upkeep in the last few years. All of this probably stems from cut backs and being undermanned but that's neither here nor there. I wonder if they've realized or even thought about the fact that drunks are gonna have a hay day with any trees, flowers, or "water hazards".
