Where might you go about getting a microwave and mini fridge?
Ay, seeing as how the dorms don't come pre-furnished(as far as food utilities) and there wont be enough room in the car to bring up to Ames. Any rental service or a place to these appliances cheap up in these neck of the woods?

However, if you want new stuff, WalMart will have a ridiculous amount of them. Additionally, want to check with your roommate and see...
On another note, where are you living?

I have a mini fridge I might sell you cheap if you are coming through Des Moines any time soon. It's just wasting away in my basement right now but still works and was new in 98.

If you're a freshman, you're bound to get something in the mail about the option to rent a loft and / or a mini-fridge / microwave unit that will be delivered to a pickup location near your dorm during move in, but I'm not 100% sure that company still operates on campus or what the deal is anymore

They should make a mini-fridge and microwave all in one ...
just saying... I would buy it. Instant burrito storage and making machine - even better if there was a little elevator inside that brought the burrito up to the microwave so you didn't have to do the heavy lifting .

Was run by ISU students for awhile. Craigslist is not a bad place either. Found one right here: GE Dorm Fridge -

I think it is safe to say I handle the heat(its been 100+ all week down here). But sleeping in the heat is something I could do without.

Biggest ripoff ever. They are sized to fit the longest mattress, and I certainly didn't get that. Definitely dictates how you arrange your room.
My last semester (went 4.5 years) I stayed out in towers and the room had the fridge/microwave combo. That was nice, but I think if you had to pay for it, it would be better to buy your own fridge/microwave. You might want to check before you do that, because some dorm floors have a microwave in the common kitchen area.
