I got a ticket for using the loading zone one for about 10 minutes getting my TV taken up to my room and had to fight to not pay that one.
Parking at Freddy is freaking stupid anyways. Just take and include the parking pass in rent and don't have assigned spots that way anyone can park anywhere. My new car isn't registered with Iowa State so if I get a ticket I can put visitor on the back and send it in. Multiple people don't register their cars with Iowa State for this reason. I guess I'm a little smarter and don't abuse that though.

There are few around my bldg. and it's a roll of the dice every day whether or not there will be a space available.
I hate being that guy, but I have made calls to ISU parking to have cars removed (which they only do for repeat offenders). I'm thankful the division at least responds and writes tickets to discourage people from parking in designated areas. Give 'em 10 min and they'll take a day. Just follow the posted signs and all will be well.

Re: Two Charged with Fixing ISU Parking Tickets
My favorite is when I drive to campus after 5:00 PM. A reserved lot is empty and is pass only until 5:30 PM. I park there at about 5:20 and somehow still get a ticket in those 10 minutes and it's completely empty.

When my supervisor interviewed here for a job several years ago, DPS traced back his rental car (to another state) to get him his parking ticket. So beware.

I don't plan on using them except in a dire situation where I need to get something done quickly. I have no problem with walking, but like people have said, getting a ticket outside somewhere like Gerdin at 5:20 is freaking ridiculous. Many of the DPS officers are on a power trip like the guy I laid into in Freddy last summer.

These 2 are certainly not the only 2 who have done this

Can we all at least agree there is no parking guy worse than the one who patrols Campustown during the day?? Usually wears shorts, gray hair, glasses... I have lived here over a decade and the same guy has been doing it over this time. He is zealous about his job to put it nicely.

I donated my fair share to the city of ames.

Re: Two Charged with Fixing ISU Parking Tickets
I caught a cop onetime sitting in his parked car in front of the school at the intersection of Ontario and N.D. playing solitaire on his laptop. I called the police station and asked to talked to the commanding officer. I talked to him and he thoroughly denied what I was saying, then I said "well I have the car # and a description of the officer in there." He then had to call me back and his tone changed from being a complete defensive a-hole to apologetic. I told him I understand that the cop is there to prevent speeders by a school but if I was a parent and heard about that, I would be very upset.
