Why is homecoming at Iowa State more about the Greeks and not about the alumni 'coming home'?

Homecoming website, there are plenty of ways for ALL students to be involved with activities, not just members of the Greek Community. Homecoming IS a big part of the Greek Community, though, which is why there's so much emphasis on it.
1) We're not in the South. It's a completely different world down there.Quote:

But hey, you're all set, so why care about anyone else right? Lovely.
I do agree that HC as an alumn is pretty weak at ISU. As an undergrad, it wasn't bad, but then again, I was Greek.

I love football, but jesus ******, someone needs to remind some of those guys that it's a just a freaking game.
Most people who are going to come to the events are within the state of Iowa. Most people have a couple hours drive home or less, thus a 6 PM kick-off isn't going to kill most people. I feel sorry for the "poor fans" who have to deal with 7 pm or 8 pm kick-offs at other schools! :jimlad:
If you are really upset that you can't make it or that it screws up with your plans, you have only so many options. The main one being if Homecoming and football games are so important and you are not close to ISU, then you are going to have to plan on staying a night or possibly two in Ames or Des Moines. It's just how it is, sorry.
The majority of the people can make it a single-day event and be happy with it.
It's different, thats for sure but it' not even the game the people down south go back for, it's the homecoming experience... Even just lookong at my facebook feed I see all my UF, FSU, UCF, UGA friends getting all excited about homecoming and traveling from all over the country to head back, half of them couldn't even tell you who the team was playing...
