Just because you don't see the ice doesn't mean it's not there.
Ice gets polished nicely with a brush during the winter.
VEISHEA. 'nuff said.

As a Chemical Engineering grad, I tell you to avoid Dr. Jolls at all costs. Even if it means waiting to take the class next semester. He's about 80 years old and can hardly speak. Extremely intelligent but maybe needs to consider retirement or just not teaching anymore

Sadly, I don't know what I'd do without WalMart. -
Re: hello all, just sent in my admissions deposit :)
You have the option of Target/HyVee for whatever/groceries, but Target is lame and closes at 10:00 p.m. where as Wal-mart and Hy-Vee are open 24/7 Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -

Holy crapola. If I remember correct, he used to jam at the Maintenance Shop - he was into Jazz.

They didn't give you Freddy Court as a living option as a transfer? Maybe because it's not considered a "dorm" or the mid-year thing. I'd look into that, it's a nicer living situation.

Haha, yeah that's him. Incredibly talented musically as well. I graduated this past May and he was still very active, just an awful professor.

VEISHEA is a massive week long party.
A lot of free concerts and activities.
Can get outta hand sometimes. (riots, SWAT team, etc) Check out these vids and this is what happens when you get a lot of drunk people on Welch Ave.

Re: hello all, just sent in my admissions deposit :)
Buchanan Hall would probably be the best. The singles are quite small, but they're singles, and grant you some pretty nice privacy. You do share a bathroom with another person, but that's pretty much it. And depending on the floor, some will be extremely socialble, and others will be a ghost town -- although that's just the culture of some people that prefer to have a room to themselves.
But on the plus side, Buchanan is located very conveniently to campus, most of the frats and sororities, Campustown, and makes the walk to and from Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Colesium very easy. And it also has its own parking lot... can't beat that.

Yeah forgot to post it but between Buchanan and Wallace, Buchanan is probably the better choice. Never lived in either myself, but I had friends in both of them.
The biggest thing Towers ever had going for it was it had a unique community and sounded like a lot of fun things took place over the years, but I think that culture has died down a bit as well

i got to admit, this wasn't my first choice in school. Seattle University only took 10% of my credits if i transferred, Tulane was too expensive, and depaul/loyola were too much of a commuter school, and u of iowa still had high school requirements even though i got an associates in science (i never took foreign languages during high school). However, the more i read about this school the more i believe ill enjoy this place very much.
for housing, i heard the towers suck for dorms. the only thing is i have only 2 options as a transfer student: buchanan and wallace. Which is better out of the 2?
also i heard there is a boxing club, which is great because i was hoping i could continue on with my hobby :). Are they any good? My gym has people with 100+ amateur fights so I usually get a good workout during sparring lol, i'm hoping its just as competitive over there as it is here
and lastly, for some odd reason, the more i read about iowa state the more i hate u of iowa heh.
Welcome to the family!

And it also has its own parking lot... can't beat that. AirWalke pretty much nailed Buchanan with this description. I've lived there for three summers. I liked it quite a bit; it's a really, really nice building. It's worth mentioning that Buchanan is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than Wallace/Wilson, and the singles are smaller. At W/W, you get a cheap room that's already furnished. There is also a dedicated bus route (#6A Brown) that runs between campus and the front door of Towers, so it's really not hard to get to class.
And yes, the ISU Boxing Club is excellent. A good friend of mine is the club president. If I remember correctly, they routinely have people place at the national competition, and tend to make national news a couple times per year. They work very hard, but are a very close-knit and supportive group of men and women, with open arms for people of every skill level (and sparring partners to match).

True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.
